In Early August they have the Mikuni Fireworks Festival which is the largest fireworks show in Hokuriku. The summer time they also have a bar set up on the beach every night that serves indonesian food and drinks. This beach is popular with the local surf crowd. Although, windows on the 10th non smoking floor weee fastened shut and in early March the air on was very hot. Good for some. Fukui is great area though, plenty to go and see in1hr around by car."

"The picture, the huge crab aquarium at the entrance, the crab marking on the room numbers tell it all, this is a Ryokan for eating really good crab. Sakai, is a far place, and it is pretty old and run down, but it would all be worth it for the crab. So you can imagine my surprise when I learned that despite it being crab season my dinner doesn't have any crab. Had they informed me in check-in that my dinner didn't have crab, I would've been slightly upset that I had to pay a few hundred...
