This is a nice convenient hotel, off the M1 near Daventry but still a couple of miles to the town centre. It’s certainly a big hotel and seems to do a lot of events and conferences. There’s a small bar with some food but I didn’t find it very homely as it’s at the side of the giant entrance. I’m pretty sure the staff are friendly and helpful but the lady I checked in with initially couldn’t find my booking and became very curt as though I’d made an error in booking or something so I showed her my booking and she still couldn’t find it almost to a point where she was saying ‘well you haven’t booked’ but then suddenly she found my booking and all was fine but there was no apology etc and then she asked abruptly if I’d checked my car in and I replied yes but she said ‘did you check in as a conference guest’ I didn’t as I was a four night overnight guest and she told me off for not booking as a conference guest as that was free apparently as though I was supposed to just guess this. So my initial impression wasn’t great. Free parking welcome though. My room was very comfortable and clean and warm but the bathroom a tad dated. I have to say though that the room was changed everyday and everything tidied, with towels changed and bin emptied etc which is something not often done these days.

Overall pretty good, if a little soulless and corporate. The staff were very nice as was the breakfast. The furniture was a little battered, but servicable. The highlight was meeting Gus the ginger and white cat who kept walking in, then seeing the staff throw him out. It reminded me of the Flintstones. Well done Gus keep coming you bring some life to the place.
