"A beautiful tranquil place to stay with lovely olive tree garden and a small peaceful pool area with glimpse of the sea. Apartment felt like home, very clean, kitchen had all you need to self cater, comfy bed, door screens, electric blackout shutters, coffee machine, pool towels, washing machine. Probably need a car to get to Finikounda as few miles away a very nice place with good beaches and restaurants. Perfect choice at the Abelia Suites, nice host, we would not hesitate to come back. "Luxury hotel with panoramic views over Navarino Bay. If you play golf it’s surrounded by golf courses. If you want to swim in the sea the beach is part of the hotel and sheltered and clean with all the facilities close at hand - they give you a device to call for service so if you are feeling really lazy you don’t need to get off your sun lounger! The spa is excellent too. "

I took this photo in Messinia, Greece in summer 2016. It's of Voidokilia Beach and it's surroundings. Voidokilia Beach is on the Peloponnese peninsula and it was the most picturesque beach that I visited during that Greek trip, which was almost exclusively in Messinia. On that mountain is Nestor's Cave and above this are the ruins of a 13th-century Frankish castle (Old Navarino or Palaiokastro). Look closely and you will see :). I didn't get to walk up there. It was brutally hot that day and I spent most of the time at the beach. But, I did make time for some hiking. Near where I took this photo there was a lot of medieval or ancient ruins. Near those beautiful rocks. I had to be careful when walking on them, but it was worth it!
