It's easy to idle the time away juat wandering the streets, finding something different on every corner. Despite the old town being filled with boutique coffee shops, there's still a lot for the budget conscience traveller.

HOW TO GET THERE: Cartagena has its own airport or you can catch a bus from other major cities in Colombia.

WHERE TO STAY: Green House Hostel - Is in the centre of the Old Town and breakfast is free! Unfortunately accommodation in Cartagena doesn't come cheap. A bed in dorm room with a fan costs 11GBP/40,000COP per night.

The beach view was beautiful. We had to sign a waiver to use the microwave, which I had never heard of. The staff was friendly. I would warmly recommend this place to first-time travelers seeking comfort and a welcoming atmosphere.

Esse Hotel é simplesmente perfeito! Equipe super atenciosa, decoração linda, bem localizado, disponibilizam toalhas pra levar para a praia, tem jogos de tabuleiros nas mesinhas da recepção, chuveiro maravilhoso, entre outros. Super indico!

I will continue from my other post because I can give two reviews since I stayed there two separate nights. Don't waste your time going to the rooftop bar. The service there is terrible. He acts like he's doing you a favor and you're bothering him from taking a rest. Not cordial at all. And also ...
