A unique Cathedral with Christian and Islamic character
Inside the Mezquita, Cordoba. #details
Cordoba is one of the best places to see the traditional Semana Santa in Spain, or Holy Week around Easter. Sevilla has the more well known Semana Santa but's its super touristy and crowded whereas in Cordoba still feels very local. http://youngadventuress.com/2012/03/mysterious-walls-of-cordoba.html
Plaza de las Tendillas is one of Cordoba's main meet up spots. It's a beautiful historic square right in the center of town between the new and old quarter, lots of great cafes and bars nearby and leads to the main shopping streets
The Jewish Quarter is the best-known part of Cordoba's historic centre, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984. Its medieval streets have a distinctly Arabian flair to them, reminiscent of the Jews' prosperity under the Caliphate of Cordoba. During the 11th and 12th centuries the Jewish population in Spain reached its point of greatest prosperity, intellectual energy and well-being, coinciding with Cordoba's greatest moment in history. The Jewish community thrived under the religious tolerance of the Caliphate, and contributed actively to its prosperity and intellectual energy. In 1492, as a part of their consolidation of power over a newly unified Spain, Ferdinand and Isabel presented the Jews (and later all Muslims) with the choice of forced conversion or exile in 1492, causing the mass emigration of the Sephardic Jews from all over Spain.
