"We arrived after hours when it was dark and check in was easy details over email. Free parking in the carpark and then you need to transport your luggage to your room, parking is not at your cabin doorstep. It was bucketing down with rain and the main road was dark, hard to see the road in front of us with such heavy rain. The pub is right next door which is packed for dinner and has fantastic food, they cater for dietary requirements and have great daily specials. The room was cozy clean and comfortable. Bed was comfortable. We stayed overnight to feed the dolphins in the morning which is a must do, awesome experience. Our overnight stay was a little scary as we turned on the news on the tv to find that Nth QLD had major floods that night, 83 roads were blocked due to flooding and we saw footage of 4wd being underwater as well as carparks. There were no nearby staff in the accommodation that we could get information from. The pub was closed. We had to travel to Sunshine Coast the next day and that main road was closed due to floods. We were scared that our room could get flooded and had no idea of where we could drive to. So that night I didnt sleep the best. The next morning I spoke to the reception and asked her for guidance on what roads to take to get to sunshine coast that were not flooded but she was not sure. I went to the local police station and was told by the police woman that she did not know as she just started work. We felt unsupported."
"After a very long day, Tin Can Bay Tourist Park was the perfect place to stop. Check in was easy - there was a chance I'd arrive late, and it was no problem to work around this when I spoke to the team over the phone. The cabin was very clean and welcoming, with a large parking space and porch with a lovely outlook over to the trees. Everything I needed was included in the cabin, with a comfortable bed that I sank into and fell asleep right away. Bonus to have a pizza van on site, so I didn't have to think about cooking. Short walk down to the bay, with some gorgeous walking paths and board walks."
