  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

I am a repeat guest and have always had positive experiences at this hotel, which made this stay particularly disappointing. The room showed clear signs of unresolved water damage, including visible ceiling stains, loud water dripping from above, and water actively dripping from the ceiling while I was showering. These conditions were uncomfortable and concerning. The room was also not properly cleaned upon arrival. There was residue on surfaces, debris on the floor, and hair left in the bathtub. Additionally, ants were present in the room and around the bed, resulting in bites to both me and my fiancé, which has never occurred during my previous stays. I reported these issues to the front desk during my stay and again at checkout. While staff were apologetic and explained the room had been affected by a past flood, no alternate room was available. I was also told I would receive follow-up communication, which never occurred. This experience fell well below the standard I have consistently received here. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and addresses the maintenance, cleanliness, and pest control issues moving forward.

Love the location, breakfast is always good, the only thing I can say is there are ants but manly in the bathroom and I carry bug spray thankfully, so it took care of the issue but that's my only issue , is the ants in the bathroom, it is clean and beds are comfortable, area is busy but quiet.

We booked our stay here and left a day earlier. When talking to front desk about getting a refund for that day she told us to call and we would get our refund. Front desk declined our refund through expedia. We called for no reason and front desk did not seem knowledgeable on the cancellation process. Overall room was clean and breakfast was good.

This location gave away my reservation i traveled from tifton Georgia to come see the ohio state buckeyes football team have been a fan my whole life and i traveled 11 hours only for them to tell me they gave away my reservation because they charged my card early and it declined because my card was locked.. when i booked the reservation it gave me a choice to pay online or at the property so why would i be charged early if my choice was pay at the property and the manager didnt show no type of remorse he really didnt care but made it clear my card should have been unlocked and they have no more rooms... thank god the manager at the location by the airport was super sweet and even apologized for what happened he made my stay much more welcome and appreciated

Someone programmed a thermometer for the air and heat to come on at inappropriate times making the room extremely hot or extremely cold. The breakfast is unedible especially as I am allergic to eggs and the sausage is unbearably horrible there is no substitutions that a diabetic can eat. We could eat the yogurt and that was about it along with a bagel one day however choices for the food are not good and whoever is cooking them has no clue how to cook The handrail in the elevator fell off as the elevator stopped on the ground level four that is the case it's never been properly fixed since it was probably broken a long time ago The shower curtain rod in the room that we stayed in was not in place correctly and you could not shut the shower curtain to take a shower as I am handicapped that was very dangerous for me. I could keep going on we do like the hotel for the most part however little things that are easily repaired just aren't being done and the cook needs to be changed it's the same person cooking that was there 3 months ago couldn't cook then either choice of bacon or good sausage would be nice at least but only boiling turkey sausage and eggs is not acceptable for breakfast for me Turkey sausage should never be boiled it is supposed to be cooked differently The flavor is boiled right out

Definitely overpriced for the location...no view and next to a store unit. They need a better breakfast menu and the breakfast staff shouldn't hurry guests out of the eating area at 8:55 am!
