Overall pleasant
Overall quite pleasant. Definitely an older cabin experience BUT they have made it clean and comfortable. Priced a little high for the condition of the cabin, yet customer service was good.

the place is a real log cabin,we felt safe, and very much at home.
Excellent stay. Such a home like atmosphere that made it easy to relax and chill after a day of site seeing. Comfortable beds. Quiet surroundings. Nice size frig and stocked utensils/pans made cooking for the family easy. Nice added bonus of a gas grill to use too. Very friendly deer wandering through. The overlook of Pike’s Peak was astonishing. Would definitely stay here again!

Be sure you are renting what's in the pictures
Cozy, not exceptional. All the professional pictures were clearly of the "up the hill" cabins not the Bonanza or the other one that shares a wall with it. Those 2 are 100 feet from the busy road and not nearly as nice as what was advertised. The amenities we have come to expect in our "cabin rental" travels were not there. No extra blankets to be found, mis-matched sheets, ill fitting comforters and spreads and did I mention the shag carpet kitchen? Where electric had been re-wired old boxes and lines are cut and left dangling. Certainly not dangerous but not professional at all.
We were in the Independence cabin, it was a lot more roomy than I expected, very rustic, had everything that we needed. We would stay here again in a heart beat.
The owner, James, was there to meet me and show me around upon my arrival. He even texted me while I was enroute to get an ETA so someone would be there for my arrival. The cabin I stayed in was the Cascade. It was clean and roomy and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances, dishes and pots and pans. It is situated near main roads that lead into Black Forest, Colorado Springs and Monument. I plan to go back on my next trip to CO.
This was a cool, cozy cabin just outside of Colorado Springs. Definitely didn’t feel like you were close to a big city and was surrounded by trees. Wish I had booked a longer trip.
The cabin was rustic, clean and spacious. It has WiFi and Netflix, although we did not use either. The kitchen has all of the necessary items for cooking. The bed was soft and comfortable. The Cascade cabin was closer to the main than I envisioned, but nice. The owner was very nice and easy to communicate with through technology! I would stay here again!
This little cabin was absolutely adorable! Over 100 years old so we were pleasantly surprised at how clean it was. We stayed plenty warm with the heat generated from the gas fire. The only disappointment was that the bathtub leaked (badly) so we couldn't take showers/baths! James was very gracious about it. He offered to move us to a different cabin for the 2nd night of our stay. Overall, we were very pleased with the service, the ambiance, and the cleanliness of the Black Forest Lodge. It is good to note that the Cascade Cabin is quite close to the road so there was a bit of traffic noise. The other cabins are further back into the woods.

Nice Cabin Experience
Nice place... next to a main road so it felt safe. The room was simple but nice..
We stayed in the Bonanza cabin. My 6 year old grandson loved the bunk bed and the living room in the basement. It had everything we needed including a rabbit and two deer that visited.
The Cascade cabin was fantastic! Really homey cabin with kitchen supplies. They even left a fruit tray, eggs, milk and OJ in the fridge! We woke up to a deer family in the yard every morning. Very peaceful in the early morning or late evening but it was a tad close to a major road so you can hear vehicles during the day. Not a huge issue but thought I would note it. I will absolutely stay here again when I am back in Colorado.
Property has 6 units with cabin like feel. We were given a top floor of a little cabin which had a pet urine smell to it. I asked if other cabins were available and was told no. From what I could see, only one other cabin was booked that night. I feel as owner could have moved us to a different cabin but chose not to
I liked the 100 yr. old cabin we stayed in and the wildlife we saw while there. There was a lovely event space with a great view of Pikes Peak. We liked how quiet it was and away from the hustle bustle of town, yet close enough to go get a bite to eat or hit Walmart for a few items. It was a lovely place to stay!
