Lovely stay! The family that owns the house are so friendly & helpful, they help make you feel right at home. Stellar location overlooking the lake. Great walking path across the street. Very quiet, I rested well here.
We had a very comfortable stay, in a family room with a six year old. More than enough room for our bags and hiking extras. Beds, pillows and quality of linen - excellent. Breakfasts - 10/10.
Wonderful stop, as we travelled North. Ben and Virginia were gracious hosts, so warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. We were encouraged to treat the place as our own and the breakfast, made to order, was delicious!! The Pheasant is a three minute walk away for a cheeky pint or a lovely lunch/evening meal. Although slightly more expensive, it’s worth it to be able to stagger back and not worry about driving. The bus is also at the end of the driveway and will take you into Keswick should you wish. Thank you both for a lovely stay. My only suggestion would be for comfy chairs out front so to take in the fantastic scenery.

Lovely find at the end of Bassenthwaite! A last minute booking for myself to get up the Lake District. Friendly owners. Good breakfast! Great location to explore the area.
Will definitely look to stay here again in the future!
I took in Blencathra, Hellvelyn and Cat Bells the weekend I visited, as well as spending time in nearby Keswick.
On the first night we were locked out of our room and there was no one on reception and the out of hours number was not being answered and we had to sleep in the lounge this was totally unacceptable despite being offered a free night
We were incredibly lucky to be the only guests for the time we stayed. I am sure the service would have been great with more people there too but, with only us it would have been easy to let it slip. Instead, we were literally waited on at breakfast, chatted with, had the guest lounge to ourselves and our 2 year old daughter even went off and played with the family's children.
The room was clearly newly decorated, had plenty of space and was a nice place to be. O ly downsides were it was a little cold at times and for me, the bed was soft but that is more my problem than theirs!
Overall, a fabulous stay, a lovely part of the world a d we will definitely look to use them again when we are back in that neck of the woods!
We had a lovely two nights here. We were offered (and accepted) tea and felt welcomed into a family home - almost like friends. The packed lunch (for a small fee) was also really useful to have and saved us having to go looking for a cafe/shop.
The accommodation is so close to the water and you get great views of the hills round about - when it's clear enough to see them, of course! ;)
The Hotel is in a lovely setting, across the road from the lake. Our room was at the front so we had a lovely view. We had a very comfy bed so slept well. The breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice. There is a lovely lounge area, It has a honesty bar which is reasonably priced. Ben and Virginia Haven't had the hotel long, but they were very good hosts. Ben even offered to take us to the pub, as it was too far for us to walk (aged 74 ). Nothing was too much trouble for them, ask and you received. We wish them all the best for the future.
Ben and V are very pleasant and helpful. The guest house is in a great position for walks. Wish we had taken our swimming costumes as there are plenty of places to swim in Bassenthwaite Lake, great for children to swim. The breakfast choices are wide, tasty and well cooked.
This little b&b was a lovely place to stay after long days of walking with the dogs. Rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable and the dining / family rooms were cute and homely with a fireplace and games. The couple running the place were really lovely and accommodating. We were made to feel comfortable traipsing through with our muddy dogs and the breakfasts were extra special. Lots of effort has gone into making you feel welcome and we felt well taken care of for our whole stay. Highly recommend for anyone with dogs and kids too.

Disappointing. Claustrophobic. Adequate at Best
Booked a standard double room - which according to pictures online was basic but small double room - found ourselves in the attic!! Double bed pushed under eaves where ceiling was so low the headboard couldn't be attached. this room is a single at best as half the bed was under ceilings so low, it was head bash territory - on sharp corners - very painful and health and safety nightmare. Couldn't stand upright in 50% of the room - again, ceilings too low. Due to trying to put lights on bedside tables, and due to the low ceiling again, the said tables were too low - about a foot below the bed - useless. Toiletries were not individually packed as stated, so no shower as don't know if general toiletries sanitised or not. Full English?? Up to 5 items pre-ordered night before - I had toast so that my husband could order a decent meal. Was considering a family visit, but this is no return. Claustrophobic, charmless, tired - no internet either as despite trying passcode it would not connect and all the reply we got was to keep trying. Not an experience we wish to repeat
This was a very nice, comfortable family run business with a personal touch where the owners were very accommodating to my needs as a motorcyclist and new vbisitor to the area.
nice b /b, lovely couple, room was a bit smaller than expected but adequate .The owners had a couple of issues to deal with (outwith there control ) and dealt with it very professionally. Breakfast was fine but I don't like the idea of limiting food too five items which included toast. For A four star b /b this was unnecessary and a bit mean.
