Clean very large rooms for a structure built in 1899. Room cleaned each day, excellent restaurant that the locals flock to. Very nice hikes close by. Just remember you’re at almost 9000 ft altitude. Rooms are air conditioned but hardly need it.

We loved the classiness of the hotel generally. They've done a good job of maintaining the vintage character of the place, without being prohibitive in terms of cost. That being said, it is due for a slight makeover, especially the room itself (the lobby is beautiful). Also, it's fine if there's no elevator, but as long as this is the case, a bellhop really is necessary (and would have been available in the old days, I am sure).

Stayed one night. Used Expedia. Traveled with a small dog. Bed was very comfortable. Free breakfast was amazing. Historic Lodge was beautiful. Grounds are lovely. Room was on the third floor no elevator but lots of stairs. A little challenging for our knees and a dog in tow. Facility is on hill. More stairs. Parking lot is small. Had to park around back and walk to the front. Sink faucet was so loose, had to hold on to fixture to turn the lever. Lol. Third floor hallway window was open so it was freezing up there. The clerk told me it was okay for me to close it as that would help him. Lol. I would stay again, but i would call in person to book a room on the ground floor well in advance. They are busy. Overall nice place.

Initial check in was not very pleasant and set a bad tone. Main lady at the front desk was not very friendly. We arrived an hour early and she was irritated that we asked if we could check in. This was such an amazing experience. The lodge is beautifully kept. Even though it is more than a 100 years old, it looks very well kept. Amenities are in excellent conditions. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms are big and comfy.

The hotel is lovely. We were put in a wonderful suite on the 1st floor since they blocked a room on the 3rd floor for us, and they dont have an elevator. The Christmas buffet was amazing.
