克麗爾湖

Certain portions of the path leave little doubt about the lake's origin.

Clear lake was created 3,000 years ago by a lava flow, in the same way most of the topographical formations in the area were formed. The water is so clear that when the surface is still you can reportedly see the remains of a "ghost forest" at the bottom. It is an extremely popular destination for scuba divers, and when you take a look at the sheer clarity of the water, you can see why.

Note: this posting originally stated the location as the southeast corner of the lake (as if lakes have corners, right?), but it was essentially backwards. Though my dad was a navigator for the air force in his younger days, I apparently never inherited the gene.
