"We had an amazing stay at The Martinsburg! We spent two days here and it was the perfect Hill Country getaway. The cabin is beautiful, modern, and extremely well kept. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design and details to make the stay comfortable and relaxing. The location is fantastic — peaceful and surrounded by the rolling hills, yet still very close to Fredericksburg and several great wineries. Being within walking distance to Pedernales Cellars was a huge plus for us. The cabin was very clean, well stocked, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We especially loved the quiet atmosphere and the beautiful views of the Hill Country. If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay near Fredericksburg, we highly recommend The Martinsburg. We would absolutely stay here again! ★★★★★"

"This is such a cute little place to visit. I am sure it is even prettier when the grass and trees are green in the spring and summer. So, I have pros and cons in my stay (as most places will have) Pros: ascetically very pleasing. despite the winter brown trees and grass, the yard in between the cottages planned well. There was a cute little pond with a tiny bridge and hammocks hanging from the giant trees in the middle. There was a hanging swing next to my cabin. My patio was very nice to sit in the morning and evening. The quiet was so nice. I wanted to fill my soul on this trip and just being able to commune with God in the silence was prefect. The inside of my cottage was decorated perfectly. Great kitchen area with everything I needed. Comfortable bed. The shower is like a grotto with a tiny stained-glass window that gives it a magical vibe. I felt like I was in my own little world. Now cons: The furniture (except the bed) was very uncomfortable to sit on. It looks perfect in the setting but, you are not encouraged in the lack of comfort to hang out in your cottage. The toilet is not suited to a bigger frame or for someone with any physical limitations, fyi. Breakfast was very disappointing. I would have like a nice German pastry or egg dish. The bread was moldy but, the hardboiled egg and blackberries were good. I would bring some of your own food. Overall, I can see returning with family or friends and I am glad I got the chance to visit this charming spot."

"Very unique stay in Fredericksburg. Wonderful location near almost every winery we wanted to see from the rhino, signor, and slate theory, all within 5min. Francisco was very knowledgeable and the Israeli wines and the great stories of the holy land vineyards. Would recommend this stay and enjoying the wine tastings at the cellar at least once."

"We stayed at Rose Hill Retreat based on policies stated on Hotel.com and Rose Hill Retreat websites. We understand there are new owners but if they are not going to honor these policies then the websites should be changed before they advertise. This was supposed to be a romantic getaway for my husband and me. 1. A full chef prepared 3 course breakfast would be served every morning. They now do a continental breakfast 2 days a week and the other days are not as promised. 2. No one under 18 can stay at the property. At breakfast there was a 5 or 6 year old whining and complaining and an 8 or 9 year old running through the breakfast area. When personnel was ask about this they said they allowed well behaved 12 year olds. Neither of these children were 12 or well behaved. 3. Maid service every day. They no longer provide maid service but you can ask for some thing and they will provide it immediately. We would not have chosen this location if we had known about these changes. With that being said the cabin we stayed in was lovely, the location just outside of town was quiet and beautiful. Last but not least Nicole was very helpful and friendly."
