The Waterford was great for our needs. We didn’t need a pool or breakfast, just a nice clean spacious room. The staff was helpful and the price was right! We will return next time we are in the area.

Staff was amazing and rooms were clean. The view over the water was great but the balcony’s could have been kept up a little better. Also, the hotel in itself is very outdated (as in vending machines, no conditioner, rugs, balcony area).

I especially loved the balcony by the lake. What a tranquil view every morning and evening! My room was modern, clean and spacious. The refrigerator and microwave came in handy. I didn’t need the air conditioning, since the mornings and evenings were cool and I just opened the door to the lake. Parking was easy, right by my entrance; staff was helpful and polite. I plan on coming back !

We had such a relaxing evening and womderful morning because of the wonderful view and quietness. Staff was very friendly. The room seemed clean, the only issue was the toilet rim, it seems that bleach isn’t used on it. Overall, what a very nice place.

A basic hotel with a beautiful view of a lake full of wildlife. The Waterbird does not offer a lot amenities but it is clean and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. It is near the Dunelands and a good stage to run into Chicago. Bring binoculars for the birds.

Gum was smeared in the carpet, stained/dirty(?) towels, towels didn’t match, office wasn’t open at 8 to check out, patched holes in walls, trash can outside was broken and in pieces. Felt dirty and lacking any of the class and sophistication that it used to have. Had stayed there previously and was a first class operation- now, not so much. Very disappointed.

We were pleasantly surprised by our room. The floors were clean. The bed was clean. Everything smelled good even in the hallway. There were no noisy neighbors and the balcony overlooking the water was peaceful and beautiful. We loved getting visits from the geese and the beautiful swan. I would absolutely stay there again.

The main reason I booked this property was for the view in the balcony but unfortunately it had massive cobwebs and spiders. We booked it for 3 nights and I was planning on spending the mornings there because it had the beautiful lake but unfortunately I couldn’t use it. I asked the reception to have that cleaned during the day when we were gone but unfortunately that was not done. The property was lacking breakfast as well. Apart from these 2 issues the rooms were big and nice. The AC unit could use an upgrade but it was sufficient. The proximity to the Indiana Dunes National Park is the reason we choose this and if you are looking for just stay this property was the best in the price range it was. Apart from the balcony issues I had no complaints. We got a late checkin as well, the front desk has a person 24x7 you just have to inform them if you would be late.
