Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well organized. We've made a list of handy tips that will help get your Zaandijk vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First of all, pack your passport, important documents, credit cards and daily medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling novel and a phone crammed with your favorite movies are good options. If you plan to take a short snooze, a quality neck pillow and some noise-canceling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, find room for a few toiletry items so you'll hop off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes knives, scissors, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like ice skates, and items that could injure passengers, such as pepper spray and guns, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to feel as comfortable as possible. Opt for a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to bring a sweater in case you get cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
