What to wear on a flight:

• Your main aim is to be as comfortable as you can. Go for a pair of flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, natural-fiber clothing and don't forget to bring a pullover in case you get chilly in the cabin.
• Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Wander around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.

The secret is to be prepared before you get to airport security. That way, you'll be hopping onto that plane to Kabarondo in the blink of an eye. Follow these tips and get your trip off to a terrific start:

• Your passport and travel documents will need to be shown to security personnel. Have them easily accessible so you don't have to dig around for them.
• The X-ray machine is up next. Empty your pockets and remove anything that is likely to beep. This includes things like headphones or earphones, as well as your coat or jacket. They'll need to be placed on the conveyor belt for screening.
