- A plane ride can be a great experience if you pack the right gear. Firstly, you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh change of clothes and a good read. Secondly, find room in your bag for your phone and charger, your medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fuels, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to choose comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by donning layers, and wear flat, slightly roomy shoes like slip-ons.
- Caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect passengers during long flights. Reduce the risks by staying hydrated, keeping your legs moving and wearing compression socks or tights.
