"Arrived at 12:00 PM with hopes that an early check in was available. Agent advised that no suites were available and requested that we come back at 4:00 PM which is standard check in time. He held our luggage for us. We returned after 4:00 PM. Our suite was still not available! We waited about 20 minutes while two front desk agents kept calling housekeeping (or someone). They were not the least bit apologetic. Don’t think I would ever stay here again after paying $400.00 plus for one night in Charleston."

"The property was recently opened so the pool was not yet available. The staff was amazing. We walked where we wanted to go, which was great, even though it’s a little away from the main cluster of hotels. I liked that the balcony allowed us to get some fresh air in. It was quiet. My husband enjoyed the breakfast but nothing appealed to me so I ate my homemade cereal in the room. I’m not a fan of the exposed clothes hangars (no true closet), but they are increasingly common. Ok for short stays."

"Wonderful location for everything you need to do and see in Charleston. Lovely artwork tour of the hotel everyday at 5. Continental breakfast bag delivered to the room. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Late afternoon wine hour. Mid evening coffee and cookies. All nice touches. "

"Debris in my bath water. Curtains that were not ironed. Very small bathroom. Adjoining room where we could hear a woman speaking and laughing. Certainly wondered about the $499 room charge. We are Bonvoy members and exclusively book Marriott hotels. But we didn’t earn any points for our visit. This just didn’t meet their usual standards. However, the restaurant and bar were excellent, as were the wait staff."

"Well-appointed room! Spacious layout with high quality finishes. The staff went above and beyond showing the highest level of hospitality. Cannot recommend The Nickel enough."

"The breakfast was disappointing. The muffin, sausage and coconut cake were dry. The staff were great, all very friendly and helpful. The location was great. Our room was noisy, the room above us they were moving furniture or jumping up and down. The bed in our room was too high and the bed was noisy."
