Room was great - quiet, spacious and with really comfortable beds - and staff were friendly. Breakfast food was good but organisation and service were poor - tables weren't set, many food items had run out.
Almost everything about the chateau met our expectations and above. The approach to the building itself is lovely and the accommodation was also wonderful - very original and well thought out. We dined at the brasserie one evening which was lovely. It was low key with mainly sharing boards but we like that. The breakfast was a buffet and a number of the offerings were empty or nearly empty on the first morning as we were shortly before 9am, which was a disappointment but we arrived early on the second morning and everything was available. Breakfast was simple but pleasant. The staff everywhere were very helpful and friendly.
Where to start?
Lets be positive...the staff were all very friendly and attentive and the manager (whose name I missed but has a nice dog) was very good in dealing with my complaint and said that she had only recently joined and recognised there was a lot to do.
The plan was to spend a couple of days at the hotel relaxing in the grounds and making use of the pool etc however we decided to cut short our stay due to a number of reasons;
Our room was the smallest in the Chateau and not really big enough for 2 people with two suitcases.
The mini bar could not be opened without rearanging the furniture first.
The ac was noisy even when off.
In the bathroom the toilet seat was broken and the shower head was leaking.
A bin was just laying on its side under the vanity unit...I didn't check to see if it was clean or dirty.
Generally the hotel is in need of a major upgrade. You can have an old property with old furnishings but they can still be maintained or replaced....the bathroom can be easily be bought up to date.
There would be more leeway but the price was 5 star but the hotel was nowhere near.
A stop-over whilst visiting Puy du Fou parc. A positive experience all round. Our room was lovely but if being a little picky it was in the eves of the roof of the building and so was very dark - which actually would have been cosy in the winter but on a summer's day....
Restaurant was just too formal and the lights in the dining room way too bright. The food was certainly gourmet but in a funny way it would have worked better if it was less stuffy and arguably more contemporary - a wee bit old-fashioned 'classic' French cuisine which many love but as a family dining experience we felt was too formal.
