"Clean room. Awesome staff. 24/7 Keurig in the lobby. Walkable to shops and restaurants (strongly recommend Theresa’s cafe for lobster roll). We stayed Sat-Tue, and it’s important to know that many local/regional restaurants are not open Mon/Tue (not sure about Sunday, we had a picnic). The only thing I wish were better was the breakfast - limited choices, mostly carbs, of course and only boiled eggs for GF. They have limited space to serve, so I understand, but it would have been nice to have more options."

"Budget. The room had a “old” smell. There is no elevator. Staff was not usually at the desk, though they were helpful when we buzzed for them. Our room key card reset every day. The website says recently remodeled, but it didn’t seem that way. Plenty of parking. Good breakfast."

"Parking was easy and the air conditioning worked fine. Overall the room wasn’t awful. The room and bed were clean and pest free. Mainly there were some minor cosmetic issues. Shower curtain rod was rusty, tub wouldn’t drain right and tub drain cover was broken, tub had cracks in it, tile floor had cracked loose tile, door also had a broken latch lock. Elevator was a little sketchy and latest posted inspection was from 2019. Wouldn’t hurt for the hotel to put some money into fixing these issues for future guests. "

"Room was clean, staff excellent. Nice breakfast served. Microwave and fridge in room. Only a few issues: bathroom was small with not much counter space, no hot water for our shower in the morning—tepid at best, and there is a charge for the shuttle service to airport. However, updates are clearly evident and will stay again"

"The hotel was clean the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The bed was extremely comfortable."

"It was -12 on Portage Lake and we cranked the heat pump up to 75. The Birds Nest cabin needs another heat source. Upstairs was cold when we got back at 10:30 pm after leaving the heat on all day in the cabin.The two full size beds that are pictured is one that’s on the bottom of a metal bunk bed frame and the other is upstairs where the roof is pitched so one side has no head room to accommodate two grown adults.New owners shut the water off for the winter. Didn’t know that until the day we left to head up. The bath house was not private. One of the doors could not lock due to the door jam being broken. The soap dispenser dispensed little to no soap. I would not recommend staying at the Birds Neat in the winter if you need use of the upstairs for children. they will be cold. The beds upstairs are pretty much useless unless you’re a single sleeper. The other two singles are set up for young children who are still in danger of falling out of bed. The beds have boards on the sides that keep a person from rolling off."
