Our room was in ground level and just in front of the lagoon.. it was nice and big room with kitchen.. We were in all inclusive and the food was decent . Pool was nice and restaurants are good .We also went to their sister resort which was also have nice pool. Overall a good stay.

Everyone at this resort was friendly!! i would recommend this resort to all my friends and family. We had the best time! The bartender MEXICO was amazing. He was super friendly and super attentive especially when he was busy ! he went above and beyond in his service.

Sunset Marina Resort & Yacht Club was an amazing place to stay! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. The service throughout the resort was excellent—everyone was friendly, helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure we had a great experience. The food was also fantastic. There were plenty of delicious options, and everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the quality of the meals really stood out. One of the things we loved most was having access to the amenities at their sister resort on the beach. It was the best of both worlds—enjoying the peaceful marina atmosphere while still being able to spend time at the beautiful beach resort whenever we wanted. The resort itself was clean, relaxing, and well-maintained, making it the perfect place to unwind. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend Sunset Marina Resort & Yacht Club to anyone visiting the area. 10/10 experience — great food, great service, and an overall fantastic vacation! 🌴☀️

The food was very bad. It was the same food at every restaurant and same thing being served over and over again. No variety and extremely cheap quality. The alcoholic drinks were very watered down , the same was true for all the juices. The quality of food was the worse I have ever been served anywhere. The patio door NOR the front door on our room had working locks. The phone in the room didn’t work. The bathtub was filthy. Pretty severe language barrier. Shame on Expedia for suggesting this! Because of this experience, I have deleted Expedia from my travel plans and further use.

We originally booked Sunset Marina Yacht Club, but at check-in the front desk told us it was overbooked and offered us an “upgrade” to Sunset Royal Beach Resort. We agreed and spent most of our five-day stay there, although we later visited Sunset Marina for one day. After seeing both properties, we definitely preferred Sunset Marina Yacht Club. The pool area had a much nicer vacation vibe and the food there was better. At Sunset Royal Beach Resort, the beach is beautiful, but the hotel itself feels more like a budget hotel than a 4-star resort. I would rate it about 2.5 out of 5. The food was very average, with small portions and very little flavor. There was also a lot of noise at night. Even on the 5th floor we could hear plates and cutlery clanging from the restaurant area and loud music late into the evening. The room also had a noticeable moldy smell, likely due to humidity. There is no swim-up pool bar, so every time you want a drink you have to leave the pool and go to the bar. Being able to visit other Sunset hotels was nice, but overall the experience was quite average, and we would probably not return. If possible, we would recommend Sunset Marina Yacht Club instead.

Honestly for the price you can get 100% better. Don’t sacrifice the beach just to be by the marina. They only have two included restaurants during the day. Kayak and bike rides only once per day at a certain time. Not enough amenities, you have to take the shuttle bus to the bigger sister hotel. No gym, no spa, no nightlife, one lobby bar which had nothing but on the rocks drinks. The “boat taxi” apparently has been broken. There are no double bed rooms, the buffet is the smallest I’ve seen out of my 8 trips to different cancun resorts. And not to mention the staff here acts like they are bothered to even assist you with directions or clarifications. Was extremely disappointed with my stay. There was two positives, 1. The asian restaurant and 2. The two bathrooms our very closed off-no view but of a brick white walled room.

I really liked the room, it had an adobe feel with arched doorways and was very cool and comfortable. The bathroom was small but functional. Where I was disappointed was in the concierge service and the restaurants. All of the restaurants were full when we arrived, there was no room for reservations. You could go early or late, but there was no guarantee there would be room for you at anything other than the buffet. So, we went out to dinner every night at upscale local restaurants because this resort did not have room for us to eat at the better establishments on site. Also, the concierge never told me that there were three sister resorts you could visit. I learned that fact sitting at the pool from a guest. How does that information not get shared at check-in? On the second day we went to the larger resort on the east coast of Cancun about 2 miles away, it was very nice with a large pool deck and a great bar. We spent more time at the sister resort as it had a larger pool, a better ocean view, and a solid buffet for breakfast. The pool bar was small at this resort but the service was quick. Getting to the pool bar is a challenge for shorter people, be prepared to swim! Overall, it was a decent little property, showed its age a bit.

Rooms were clean and staff was attentive and extremely friendly. Food was very good although not authentic Mexican. Drinks were strong and plenty. Their sister resorts (especially Sunset Royal) are also very nice and accommodating. Definitely recommend and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Did not stay at the property as they were overbooked and moved us to Sunset Royal upon trying to check in saying they were upgrading us. Went to other location and had several hiccups through out the entire stay. Not happy!
