Heritage Building in the heart of Cairns

This hostel is in a heritage building and has no air-con, but does have fans and louvres in place of windows. The bed are extremely uncomfortable, with the base of the bed poking through the thin mattress. The settees in the lounge area have the stuffing coming out of the cushions and the rest of the furniture is rather tired. There are no lockers for your clothes and belongings in the bedrooms. There are food lockers in the kitchens, which are clean and well equipped. even though the cookers are very rusty and so old the temperatures for the oven have faded away so they are unreadable. Its quite a friendly place and very well situated.

門限１９時で閉まる女性専用ドミトリー（英語で文章になった寝言を言う子もいます）

ケアンズ滞在3泊のうち、真ん中1泊を此処にしました。前後日のオプショナルツアーでホテル滞在時間が短かったので、少し安上がりなのと、女性だけのドミの実情を知りたかったからです。観光の都合でホテル着が20時に成ってしまいましたが、まさかの扉は閉まっていて、何度もベルを押して呼んでも来なくて、とうとうホテル前から電話しました。事情も聞いてくれず、「あなたねぇ～こんな遅く来てもらっても困るのよ！（って夜8時は遅いのか？！）でしたが、よく見るとチェックインは19時までと掛かれていた。スタッフの女性は髪にパーマを巻き付けたまま現れ、これが部屋の鍵！と渡されただけで、朝は8時から朝食よ！と言い残すだけで、行ってしまった・・・私は朝は付いてない契約だったはずと思いながら・・・アタフタしてる私を見ていた宿泊者の女の子が、此処があなたの部屋、シャワーは此処よ！ベットはこれね！と教えてくれて、ソファーに戻って行った。既に部屋は暗く、4人部屋でしたが、寝てる子が・・・まだ20時だぞ！と思った・・・仕方なく、貴重品と持参したバスタオルやシャンプーなどだけ持って、シャワー室に向かった。ベット室に、ロッカーも無く、コンセントも10個くらい付いてるＰＣなどに付けるタイプの物しかなく、皆が付けてるので、仕方なく私もスマホなどそこで充電。暗い中で、持参の緊急用ライトで確認して。シャワー室が何個か有る事は、後で知りましたが、お湯の出も悪く、なんと言う所に来てしまったのだろう！と思った。 タオルやバスタオルのレンタルも無さそう。１階と２階に、小さな台所は着いていましたが、お皿やコップも綺麗なものは見当たらず、兎に角、２０時は此処では夜なので、電気も付ける事を（台所でさえ）遠慮して、そうっとベットに入るしか無かった。しかし、４人４台の平置きシングルベットですが、マットも薄く、疲れていたので、取りあえず眠りには付けましたが、夜中に何度も大声での話し声で目を覚ますと、なんと同室女子の寝言・・・それも、文章に成ってる・・・英語です。耳栓してても、兎に角何度も言うので、目覚めてしまい、持参の緊急用懐中電灯で彼女に近寄りましたが、寝てた・・・唖然！！ほかの２人も寝てました。（唖然） 翌朝、私は８時まで港の桟橋に行かなければ成らないので、７時に身体にスマホのブルブル機能を付けて起きましたが、まだ３人とも夢の中・・・この子って、皆おこちゃま？？？と思いました。 廊下に出て身支度をして、外に面してるコーヒーショップに向かうと、朝食は好きなものを頼んでね！と有料のメニュー・・・タダですか？と聞くと、値段書いてあるでしょ！？と。急ぐのでいらない！と言って鍵を返すと、昨日貰わなかったから、２０ドルね！現金よ！と言われ、安いと言えば安いけど、寝た気がしない場所に寝て、２０ドルね～。と思った。お子ちゃまには安全で良いだろうけど（って貴重品はどうすんの？）私は２度と泊まりたくないです。

水族館に近いホテル

部屋が広々として、トイレもバスルームもいくつかあって、外には洗濯物を干すことができる、快適なホテルでした。 貴重品を入れるためのロッカーを一つ貸してくれるんですが、中がものやゴミだらけだったのが、残念。ホテルのレセプションに言ったら、綺麗に片付けてくれました。タクシーも呼んでくれるので、空港も余裕で間に合いました。
