We loved our stay and the place grew on us. Rooms could use a place for cloths and suitcase as they aren’t big and a coffee pot. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and a small market but it doesn’t have fresh fruit or veggies and limited for lunch or breakfast items. Loved how staff booked tours which were very small.

We stay there for 4nigths. Very quiet place. 2 minutes walk to beach. Amazing beach, mostly for surfing. You can swim but careful for beginners surfers. The property is nice with a pool and outdoor kitchen located in a peaceful garden. We stay at room #35. Wifi connection very poor. Have to be in the balcony to get Wifi. Lack of hooks in washrooms and room for hanging things. Cafe Mar Azul is very good restaurant for your meal and drinks. Overall very nice property.

Great hotel overall. The amenities were great; there is a pool, common kitchen with gas stovetop, common eating area, lounge chairs, mini fridge in room and places to relax. There was a hole in our door which let in some insects and ants. The wifi was patchy in out room, but that could have been because we were the farthest room from the main office. There was a great restaurant next door with friendly staff. Unfortunately the mini-mart close by didn't have many food options.

This is a reliable budget boutique find in a stunning, elite area. The highlight is absolutely the proximity to the water—having basically beachfront access in such a private neighborhood was a dream! The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. My only note is that the rooms could use a little TLC; some fresh paint and new grout would go a long way in making the space feel finished. Also, keep in mind it’s a bit of a distance from the main shopping and dining hubs, so it's perfect if you're looking for a quiet escape.

The staff was outstanding! Yorya, Dylan and Andrea were consistently personable, friendly, and particularly helpful, answering all of our questions and assisting us with virtually all of our plans! The location in Palm Beach Estates was ideally situated, where a short walk on a shaded path led to a wonderful, expansive and nearly private beach. The grounds at Hotel El Manglar were quite lush and well maintained. The swimming pool and surrounding deck areas were equally well maintained. Our room had a small kitchen which was well-equipped, offering us everything we needed for light meals and beverages. Our room was comfortable and clean, with linens and supplies replenished every other day. The bed was quite well-dressed and comfortable. We were worried about not having a car during our stay and discovered that it was not an issue! An 18 minute walk south on the beach brought us to an estuary system, which was easily crossed by water taxi ($2.00 U.S,), dropping us into the bustling beach town of Tamarindo. Its streets were lined with a variety of restaurants and quaint beach shops featuring local artisans and souvenirs. Once there, we could easily reach a bank and 2 small grocery stores. We took 3 excursions that required transportation, and those arrangements were seamlessly handled by the wonderful El Manglar staff (mentioned above). We very much hope that a return trip will be in our not-too-distant future! Pura-Vida!

El lugar se ve bonito, sin embargo las habitaciones son muy pequeñas, oscuras, y se ve un poco deteriorado, el baño es bastante antiguo y en mi caso la ducha tampoco funcionaba bien. No hay desayuno incluido tampoco. Su punto a favor es que la playa está al frente, tiene acceso directo a la playa.

Ein Rundum Sorglos Paket. Einmal dort und alles ist in der Nähe (Einkaufsmöglichkeit, Restaurants, Strand,…) und alles wird möglich gemacht. Vor allem die Surfstunden sind sehr zu empfehlen. Die Zimmer waren sauber und schön eingerichtet. Nur der Duschstrahl ist etwas hart (könnte v.a. bei einem Sonnenbrand unangenehm werden). Das Hotel liegt in einem privaten Arenal in einem Nationalpark. Es ist eine super Alternative zu Tamarindo, da es viel ruhiger & privater ist und trotzdem alle Möglichkeiten bietet.

Outstanding staff! Comfortable bed and good size bathroom. Liked the keyless entry system especially when going to the beach we didn’t worry about losing key. Beach only 2 min away. Pool area lovely gardens and shade if you wanted. Room fridge and air conditioner were added features.

We came to El Mangar from very busy Tamarindo and I wish we could have came here first! The property is pristine, the front desk at reception were kind,attentive and so helpful and you got a feel of you are welcome here, it has been amazing! The area is safe , secure and quiet , in the morning you can hear the waves from the beach :) room: small and cozy , this is the cleanest hotel we have stayed in after being in Costa Rica for a week, I am very particular about rooms, yes there may be some paint chipped but that is nothing, the rooms are clean! A/C works wonderful, actually had to raise the temp because we got too cold. Showers - hot water ! Parking : directly across from the hotel, on a quiet road ( which is more like a small lane ) , your vehicles are parked directly across and infront of the reception area in a small parking area. There is a parking pass that you have to display but this gives you peace of mind that your vehicle will be safe! There is a nice walkway to the beach, it’s about a 2 minute walk through a really neat forest setting, the trail is clean and flat, I do appreciate the beach being a 2 minute walk as you’re not surrounded by hotels and staring at a big resort right beside you , the beach is clean and not overall busy. The cafe next door has amazing food! I am so glad we came to stay here ! ❤️ we have had such an amazing time and I wish it wasn’t only for one day.
