We stayed one night and were glad we didn’t stay longer. Upon arrival, signs stated parking cost £5, and as guests, we expected it to be free, but it wasn’t. All hotel facilities, like the pool and gym, cost extra. Our room was upstairs, small, with two single beds pushed together to mimic a double, and a confusing layout of corridors. We didn’t eat at the hotel, choosing instead to visit local pubs and restaurants.
Before dinner, we asked Jane, the supervisor, for two extra pillows and a bathmat. She offered a hand towel as a bathmat but had only one pillow available. We asked her to find another pillow, promising to return later. When we came back around 10 pm, she only had one pillow, explaining she couldn’t take one from the 13 empty rooms because of hotel policy. We found this ridiculous for a 4-star hotel and asked to see the manager. Jane said David had sourced the pillows, but the process was unnecessary and frustrating. Overall, the experience was disappointing with poor service, hidden charges, and lack of basic amenities.
