Great relaxing stay.

The rooms were fresh and nicely decorated, the bed was very comfortable and relaxing. The bathroom was very well designed with a great shower and twin sinks. The breakfast was amazing with fresh products and great locally sourced ingredients for the cooked option.

Short break

Fence gate lodge is a lovely place to stay. It is lovely both inside and out. The rooms are well presented and the staff can’t do enough for you. The breakfast was really good and the lady serving it was friendly and efficient.

Dog friendly trip. Bar wasn’t open, pub with food is down the road, there was a wedding reception which was busy and the dog wasn’t allowed at breakfast so they pulled me a random table in next door nowhere near breakfast. Laughable!

The Fence Gate Lodge was great for an overnight stay. We stayed in the junior suite which was incredibly spacious and comfortable. The bathroom facilities, rain shower, roll top bath, were nice features. The breakfast was pleasant, we only ate continental but the cooked breakfast that other people were having looked nice. We ate dinner at their restaurant. The food was pleasant but the service could have been slightly more attentive. A couple of mistakes with orders and a fifteen minute wait for the bill, but these minor issues didnt ruin the overall experience. Thanks for a convenient stay!

Fence Gate Lodge was a really pleasant surprise. Beautifully appointed, straightforward stay and experience. Fab breakfast. Lots to do locally. We ate and drank at the Fence Inn hotel across the road. Had an amazing dinner at the Michelin star - white swan which is just a few mins away. .. and enjoyed a Penske Witches tour and drive around the picturesque countryside. Great time!

Excellent reception by a very friendly and efficient receptionist (Kirsty). Lovely room although noisy when traffic builds on the main road close by. Good beer and service in the Fence Gate pub and restaurant nearby. Splendid breakfast served by the lovely Debs. Always a pleasure to say here.

Our second visit to this delightful establishment. The setting and surrounding area is so pretty, plenty of parking spaces and an easy walk to the nearby bar and restaurant. The staff are so welcoming and have time to talk to you, most important in my opinion Checking in was easy. We booked a suite and we were very happy with it as it was stylish and also had everything we could possibly need including a Nespresso coffee maker!! The bathroom was large enough for a lovely walk in shower, large bathtub and double hand basins and was tastefully decorated The bed was supersize and very comfortable - a great night’s sleep. Breakfast was a joy. Freshly cooked and choices of cereals, fruit & yogurt plus delicious home made granola! We shall definitely return to Fence Gate Lodge in the future and thoroughly recommend it.

Staying at Fence Gate was a delight in every way. From the moment we arrived, we felt like VIPs. The care and attention of the employees goes above and beyond. A great big shout out to Jordan at the front desk and the woman in the kitchen who called us in the morning to check to see if we were running late and wanting to join for breakfast. The housekeeper was a very personable, hard working woman who made sure we had extra cookies and water. Thank you Fence Gate. We'll be back!

Lovely staff, but room was right on busy main road and didn’t sleep a wink from the cars driving by all night. Room wasn’t very clean - opened bottle of water on nightstand from previous guest and clump of black hairs gathered in the corner of the shower. Meal at the restaurant bar was super noisy because it was so busy and meant service was poor. We cancelled our desserts because we’d waited so long for them. Breakfast was very average with concentrated, long life fruit juices, hard croissants, and fruit salad made up mainly of apples. Didn’t meet expectations to honest, so pleases we were only staying one night.
