This charming hotel in the quiet, leafy neighborhood of Palmero had an excellent staff. Gabriel and Daniel were super helpful with tips and advice. Our superior room with private bath was off the courtyard, so was very quiet (I think the cheaper ones facing the street may be a bit noisier), & had very comfortable bed. Nice, simple breakfast with fresh juice, good coffee, yogurt, bread, etc. It's not near the center of BA, but the subway and buses were very near, and the Palmero neighborhood has a lot of excellent restaurants, bars, and character. Loved the amazing tree-lined streets. Highly recommend the restaurant Portenos Amores a couple blocks away, especially for their very reasonably priced mid-day meal. We later moved to a hotel in the center of BA, near San Telmo -- much preferred Caseron Porteno and would stay there again if we revisit the city.
I have stayed here before and will stay here again. It is quaint with alot of character in a great area. The staff is excellent and helpful in everyway. It is withing walking distance of many fine restaurants and blocks away from the subway station and bus lines. An excellent base to see Buenos Aires.

Helpful staff
Staff is helpful, but the problem is they do not speak English. English soeaking person is in hotel only from 9 to 1pm.
It was very basic, we just stayed a night before a morning flight and i wished we had spent a few more quid and had a more pampered sleep. There is a private bathroom, which had no lock, and you had to cross the entrance of the common room to get there. There were a few flies in the room (fair enough it was a hot day) but some i saw resting were actually swatted by previous guests and not cleaned off the walls. If you are looking for a hostel it would be fine, it had all the basics and a comfy bed. But if you are looking for any sort of hotel nicities, id look elsewhere.
The non-descript outside entrance of Buenos Aires B&Bs gives little clue as to what lies inside. Inside Caseron Porteno lies a large lovely courtyard, comfortable rooms, a very attentive and helpful staff and a tango school. The Palermo Soho neighborhood is upscale, with good restaurants and groceries. Continental breakfast at the Caseron is nothing special, but guests can keep food and cook there. The dining room is a great place to get to know other guests, many of whom are European.
We had only one night as a stopover but this place is close to Aeroparque, interesting neighbourhood and good value for money. Clean room, good bed! We were in Room 2 right near the door, ok for one night but noisy as people come and go. We would go back for sure!

Very nice relaxing place - as well very quite. Location in BA better than expected, a lot of sightseeing nearby. The owner extremely helpful, gave us very good advise.
Next time in BA - we will go back there for sure !

Caseron porteno
The hotel is in a nice neighbourhood with lots of cafes and small restaurants within easy walking distance. Our room was a reasonable size but the bathroom, although private, was opposite the room. Our room overlooked the street, which was very noisy through the day and the night with a lot of heavy traffic. It was quieter if we closed the windows. The bathroom really needed a revamp and wasn't very nice. Maria was lovely and the breakfast was OK - yoghurt, pastry, toast, coffee. There is a nice communal sitting area overlooking a pleasant garden. Highpoints were the free tango lessons every evening in a small dance studio, which we really enjoyed.
We wanted a place close to the airport (AEP) and hotels.com said this was only 2.1 miles but unfortunately it was a 10-12 minute, 50 Peso cab ride. The beds are short (I'm 6'1) and have a wooden frame so you can't have your feet hang off the edge. Also, it is VERY loud in rooms 7 and 8 since they are on a busy street. Finally, the bathrooms are outside the room (but private for each room) which is a bit odd. The lady there is really nice and there's a nice confined outdoor areas which I'm sure would be relaxing, but it did not meet our needs.
I had a great experience at Caseron Porteno. The staff was very helpful with transportation questions, arranging visits to shows, and everyday questions about Buenos Aires. The room was spacious and kept very clean. Hotel was in a safe neighborhood with easy access to public transportation. I will definitely stay here next time I journey down to Argentina!
(see above) Good room, friendly helpful staff, nice breakfasts, free computer for internet use, excellent security, reasonable rates. When we got there, my wife had just had her wallet stolen on the subway, and they were kind and helped us out with a phone card and never even charged us for using it. If we get back to Buenos Aires, that's where we'll stay. A few things you should know. You can't put toilet paper in the toilets - save up your plastic bags for a few weeks before you go! And there are no phones in the rooms. But we LOVE that place! And the manager there gave us perfect directions for finding places and using the bus system. Also, while they work with this site and you can prepay that way with a credit card, they dom't accept credit or debit cards at the hotel.
