  • The Basilica of the Holy Blood is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Bruges, Belgium. Originally built in the 12th century as the chapel of the residence of the Count of Flanders, the church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood allegedly collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought from the Holy Land by Thierry of Alsace, Count of Flanders. Built between 1134 and 1157, it was promoted to minor basilica in 1923. The 12th-century basilica is located in the Burg square and consists of a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel dedicated to St. Basil the Great is a dark Romanesque structure that remains virtually unchanged. The venerated relic is in the upper chapel, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style during the 16th century and renovated multiple times during the 19th century in Gothic Revival style. Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, it is sometimes referred to as The Venice of the North. Bruges has a significant economic importance thanks to its port and was once one of the world's chief commercial cities. We really enjoyed staying here during our Bruges vacation. It was very clean with nicely decorated rooms and a solid breakfast. David was super communicative and fun to chat with.

Did not do breakfast since was running the race, but buffet options looked very good. Very convenient location, rooms were enough for just myself, and loved there was a courtyard garden where you can bring food and eat, or just sit. Friendly english speaking staff, despite close to main street, it was surprisingly quiet.

Clean comfortable hotel in a great location.

Great location a couple of minutes walk to the main square, easy to get to, easy well-lit underground parking right across the street with tons of EV charging points. Clean, comfortable, well furnished - good buffet breakfast.

The staff was lovely and the room was very clean and comfortable but the room was very noisy. Someone took out the trash/bottles at 11pm every night right next to our room. And we were on the ground floor so we could hear every time someone walked up the stairs or in the room above us.

An absolutely excellent boutique hotel, simply but stylishly furnished, funky modern "bla blah" theme, friendly staff, good breakfast, fine quiet room, great bathroom/shower, well located in the old centre city. I would definitely stay here again!

Nice boutique style hotel within easy walking distance of tourist sites. I liked that the location was off the busy main streets on a side street blocked from through traffic. So the room was quiet. Hotel had a nice breakfast, a cute outdoor patio, and friendly staff.

We did not have any hot water for the shower in room 8 - but overall room was what we needed. Patio was very nice outside - location was close to everything. Staff was very nice. Would stay again for sure

The location was perfect! The bus station was a 5 minute walk away, parking garage opposite the hotel, the centre was within a 10 minute walk, we absolutely loved our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the beds were very comfortable. Only negative was that the bathroom did have a not so nice smell from the shower, but we managed with the door closed. Would 100 percentage recommend and stay here again

Great little hotel in Brugge

Really well located spot in Brugge that is ideal for coming into the city from the rail station, and has plenty of small cafes and restaurants nearby. I checked in using the instructions emailed to me in advance as I was arriving after the front desk closed and had absolutely no issues at all. Everything was straightforward and I’d happily use the hotel again.

We recieved a really warm welcome from the owner. Our room was warm and clean and had everything we needed for our stay. They had thoughtfully given us a room with a private terrace so our toddler could have a little explore safely. Great location in central Bruges.

Lovely hotel stay. We stayed for 1 night over easter period. There is a easy accessable car park virtually opposite which is very reasonable for 24hr period. The hotel is very clean and staff are helpful. The room is small but clean and comfortable double bed, tv facilities good, clean and good shower with shampoo etc. As a smaller older property you can hear some noise from neighbours e.g. door opening or knocking suitcase etc but over night everyone was quiet so not an issue for us. We did not try breakfast so cant comment but smelt good. Would stay again!
