"This is our second visit at this hotel. We weren’t here long enough to use the amenities last fall, so we specifically booked this hotel again for our two young children to enjoy the pool. We booked through Expedia, which listed the seasonal pool open from June to September. Today is June 12 and the pool is bone dry. We were told it doesn’t open until the end of June, and while Expedia offered some minor compensation, the hotel refused to offer any sort of refund or hotel credit despite the misleading information online. None of the staff were particularly helpful nor compassionate towards our situation. Didn’t find the front-desk staff particularly helpful overall; as an aside, I overheard another guest ask for recommendations for restaurants in the area, and the front desk attendant pointed to the restaurant across the lobby and said there’s one here. That’s it, that’s all.
While the room was clean and comfortable enough, the bathtub did not hold water which made bathing two young children extremely difficult. Pillows awful.
The playground area is nice for older children. The ‘games room’ is laughable and should not be advertised with cartoon zoo animals that would draw children’s attention as there was nothing suitable in it for children under 12.
We hope to make the Granby Zoo an annual family trip, and luckily because of our poor experience at this hotel, we found some great places to explore around Granby, but we will not be returning to this hotel again."
