Beautiful view room with fireplace and large deck overlooking the bay. Staff was great. Had Father’s Day dinner in the restaurant. Glass of complimentary cider upon check in was a nice touch.

For a “resort” title, I was very disappointed. Not only in the lack of cleanliness but also lack of amenities in and around the resort. It’s located in a ghost town where everything is old and closed.

Well, the property is very handsome, and the setting is beautiful, and quite convenient to Butchart Gardens, which are 2 km away, and to the airport, which is a 10-minute drive. Rooms are spacious, quiet, and clean. Some issues, however. First of all, although the hotel was definitely less than half full, we were put on the 1st of 3 floors. These rooms have very little privacy, as anyone can walk up to the front or back of these rooms. Strangely, one needs a key to get from the rooms to the lobby, but not to get from the lobby (or street) to the rooms. I've never seen such backwards security. Secondly, when we arrived at 5 PM, there were no people at the front desk--just a sign saying "back in 10 mins." Not quite the service one would expect at a 4* property. Main restaurant wasn't open the 2 nights we stayed (Monday, Tuesday). Finally, at breakfast (8:30 AM) on our first day, our waiter spent all of his time re-arranging the furniture rather than tending to guests. Couldn't the furniture re-arranging wait until after 10 AM, when breakfast was over? Mind you, I enjoyed our stay despite these issues, but there is room for improvement.
