As a boundless.co.uk member, you get free parking, use of spa and late checkou. Manager at reception demanded money from my daughter as we had booked late checkout (She actually stated that unless we book direct with the hotel, there are no free parking, no free spa service or free late checkout. Told her this was incorrect. When I got home I called Boundless and was told Hotel manager was wrong with every point. Boundless will be contacting the hotel manager receptionist to advise her on the rules. This happened on my nephews 10th birthday and the day was ruined. Boundless.co.uk were brilliant, the lady knew the conditions of Westcliff hotel on her finger tips

Very dirty room, we booked large room for four people. Really horrid damp smell that I later realised was the carpet bellow the air conditioning unit, When it kept me up most of the night dripping on to the floor. The room also had visible wet walls and a very cracked ceiling. Staff were really good, and great with the children too. Food was fine. Spa facilities very good. Overall way over priced as there’s no way I’d live in the conditions our room was in.

Staff was nice and helpful. I was very welcome and i was a bit early, as soon as my room was ready a nice women at the reception was calling to inform me that my room was ready. We had dinner at the hotel and staff and manager was very kind. Food was delicious compliment to the chef. We had a lovely weekend.

The facilities and common areas make up for the drab but functional room we had (family room, double bed and 2 roll out beds). The lovely warm indoor pool and gym were the highlight of the stay with the restaurant/ bar a close second. Staff were helpful and friendly, but not in a 'we're a premium hotel' kind of way. Whilst nothing was exceptional, the pool and the 10mins walk to the beach or town centre made it a good choice and I'd have no problem choosing it again.

I book this hotel purely down to the pool. Arrived with my 12 year old son to find the pool closed at 7:30pm. Woke up the next morning to find we couldn’t use it again due to a Swimming class!! My son was so disappointed. Staff weren’t great. The Deputy manager was “sorry” but that was it. Had to ask him to compensate by giving us a free breakfast which he did, but it wasn’t offered. On top of that, because we were checking in late, we tried calling for over an hour and 30 minutes. Not one person answered!! Not great.

Dated property, in need of renovation, rooms not cleaned to my 4/5* standard, bad smell, marks on carpet, dusty surfaces, doors don’t close properly, tiny mirror in the bathroom. Too expensive for what it is. Only plus side was access to the pool.

We booked a family room, however there was only 1 very small window and hardly any ventilationnor natural light. We asked if we could change rooms to a room with more natural light. The reception staff were very helpful. We moved rooms and we had big bay window with loads of natural light. For an extra fee of £20 per night. The pool was amazing. It wasn't too busy and it was a lovely temperature and was very clean and maintained. The food was good and breakfast was great. Over all it was a really enjoyable stay. The hotel is in a great location. I would definitely recommend staying at West cliff Hotel. The rooms at the front of the hotel seem to be the best to choose from. The vibe was good and the spa looked busy although we didn't venture there. I am definitely coming back!!!!

Booked for a birthday trip, left the same night. Walking in from the side entrance felt more like entering a care home than a 4-star hotel — the warm, stale corridor air and stained carpets gave off “neglected institution” vibes. No disrespect to pensioners, but the crowd and scent sealed it. The room was boiling, poorly ventilated, and nowhere near the “stunningly renovated” standard they boast about in the press. Turns out they spent £500k on upgrading 20 out of 83 rooms — so around 75% of guests are still sleeping in 2006. No AC, just a knock-off Dyson-style desk fan that moved less air than a sigh. The mattress was saggy, the air thick, and the room was just not fit for purpose. We asked to check out 6 hours later. The receptionist didn’t know how to process it, so he called the duty manager, who told us to contact Expedia for a refund, gave her name, and said she’d support the complaint. Once we emailed our complaint, she denied saying any of it. After days of going back and forth with Expedia and the hotel, we eventually received a full refund. They claimed they “don’t have the resources” to go back and forth justifying the property. Might be worth redirecting those resources into carpets, airflow, and honesty.

Great hotel and friendly staff. Only a few things which were minor - room was downstairs and the window was right next to some outdoor seating, so would have been very noisy on a busy afternoon/evening. Had dinner (burger) which was tasty. Unfortunately the bar and outdoor area overlook the pool so we decided against a swim and opted to pay the £15 for the spa visit instead! Parking ok but £10 per 24 hrs so could add up for a longer stay. EV charger would be handy. Room was serviced even though we didn't leave the sign out which was nice but unnecessary (changed our towels even though left on the radiator). Slept well though and it was a spacious room with good shower. Thanks!
