The imperial is a lovely big hotel with so much character &history,it has everything you need .Its clean lovely and warm and so homely ,staff all friendly and helpful ,they all work so hard to keep this hotel so nice nothing we didnt like about the hotel .would definitely recommend it and we would definitely come back . The area the hotel is in would have once been so beautiful with beautiful architectures ,sad to see how its been left to go ,it needs some love put into it and fixing and cleaning up the collonades /access points to the beach. also needs some lighting to make it safe when its dark.needs bringing back to life make it beautiful as it once was ..the hotel still looks as stunning as it does on all the past old photos .

Really disappointed & shocked that this hotel can claim 4 stars. The room was more 2 star, basic, scruffy, poor facilities, broken tv, no side lighting, heater hanging off the wall, very noisey plumbing, generally unacceptable, especially for the price!

Location very good for short walk into town. Good parking facilities. Great breakfast. Good bar and regular evening entertainment. Rooms good. Staff excellent.

Draughty, dirty around the restaurant windows. Cold and depressing. Used to be a lovely hotel, but living in the past unfortunately. Very noisy.

No heating in the room. Hotel staff provided oil filled electric Heater. The lack of heating was a known problem that had not been repaired.

Great location - and right across the road from the tram stops which were brilliant coming every 10 minutes. The hotel is quite classy and comfortable, however it needs a lot of maintenance attention in various areas due to the age of the hotel (apparently built in 1867) - room cleanliness was ok although there were some areas (in the inner window frames which looked as if they had never been cleaned. Could not avoid seeing it when you opened up the window. Bed was very comfortable. On the occasion that we had our room "cleaned" by housekeeping, all they did was empty the rubbish bins, give us an additional toilet roll and pull up the covers on the bed - did not even move the pillows. They did not replenish the coffee sachets or water bottles or clean/vacuum the floor. Must have taken them all of 2 minutes, so a bit disappointed with that given that the hotel is one of the few along the esplanade that has class written all over it. Breakfast was very good, and the staff are working hard to make you feel welcome. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and our interactions with staff in all areas was always very pleasant and helpful. I would recommend staying here again should I ever be in the area again.

Clean room every day. Food excellent with choice of menu, entertainment every night, hotel right on sea front , excellent ,friendly staff and service. Good facilities for disabled people

Very friendly staff especially in the palm restaurant. Love the buildings history. My only mild complaint is the time it takes to check in and check out but overall a very enjoyable stay.
