I did not know prior to booking that the property is a timeshare. Timeshare owners get first dibs on specific rooms and Expedia is used to sell the leftover, less desirable rooms. We got a bear view room (a 1-bedroom lake view apartment). I requested a top floor unit, but those were all taken by timeshare owners. Our room was unfortunately very noisy, on the ground floor and the small playground immediately outside of your balcony so you don't get much privacy. Kids and parents at the playground were constantly looking into our apartment. It made it hard to enjoy the lake view when you always had to have your curtains drawn due to people peeking in. Other noisy drawbacks: The building is old so you will hear the people on the floor above you stomping around, you hear whenever they turn on their water; you share a bedroom wall with the building elevator (so you will hear it running) and the unit's water heater. The water heater makes clanking noises when heating up, so we were woken up one morning at 6:00 a.m., another at 6:30 a.m., and our final day at 2:00 am! The maintenance team said that due to the high mineral count in their water, a lot of sedimentation builds up in the water heaters, causing the clanking noises.
The room was stocked with basic necessities but clearly needed renovation. Carpet was very dirty. Wish I had known these things before booking.
