The entrance and lobby at this hotel are simply gorgeous, a real attention to detail makes this a welcoming environment. The rooms are spacious and clean, and although the balconies are small, they do provide a lovely view. The solarium area and sunbathing spaces are ample and both pools were refreshing. The pool bar has lots of options and a nice food menu. Overall, having stayed in 5 or 6 hotels in the vicinity, Hotel Alay has proved to be my favourite and actually great value for money too.

It was in a great location. Close to tons of bars and restaurants. Close to the beach and marina. Staff were all lovely and very helpful. Rueben at the front desk was extremely polite and helpful. The bartender and servers were all professional. Pool areas were clean but we noticed the out side and surrounding walkways needed to have a good clean.

Great place!

Had a great time. Although we were only there 1 night. We were able to check in early and given access to our room! The man on reception was lovely and welcoming! hotel was spotless and all staff were friendly. Cant fault anything. Check out was 12 but were able to book a time slot for a room to have a shower which included towels and toiletries free of charge which was fabulous as we had a late evening flight! Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Clean modern hotel. Great location. Refreshing to stay in a hotel where sun beds were readily available whatever the time of day! Only slight problem was lack of storage space in the rooms. There were no drawers and limited shelf space. Friendly staff, good food and a pleasant snack bar. The nightly discos were held outside and were great fun. We would not hesitate to return.

Nice hotel, good location!

Very brief one night visit. The room was clean. Nice selection of toiletries. We were on the very top (12th) floor which had a good view over the harbour. The guys on reception were very helpful!

The hotel looks to have had a recent refurb in some of the rooms but unfortunately we had a more dated room (not an issue for us) still very clean and had everything we needed. Also blessed with the most beautiful sea view. Staff were lovely, great service, throughly enjoyed our stay here.

Fantastic location near beach and marina complex. Yes, room decor was dated but everything was clean and the shower was powerful despite its looks. Great breakfast selection. I was worried about it being a dog friendly hotel as am not a fan of dogs but only saw one during our stay and it was leashed and quiet.

In the restaurant at breakfast and evenings we experience great attention to detail from a man called William. He is top of his game and is a great advocate for the hotel. I would promote him if an opportunity comes his way. Loved the way he engaged with us about his travels and how much he enjoyed his work.

Great location but needs work

We stayed for 11 nights for a relaxing holiday. The hotel was comfy and the reception staff very friendly. The bedrooms were modern however had little storage which made hanging up clothes difficult when staying for longer than 5 nights. The bathroom and shower were ok however there was mould on the silicone and on both shower heads. I cleaned the shower with a towel however I believe this should be done by the hotel daily. The pools were good and there were enough beds over the 3 levels. The pools however also were mouldy and require attention. Hotel bar reasonable priced with a great selection of drinks

Had a room to start off with straight on to the street at the front of the hotel, noise was awful couldn’t sleep. Asked for higher room told would have to pay. Was more than happy to for the sea view. Instead offered room 460 overlooking hotel entrance. Gotta say beautiful quite, huge room, nice and quite and chilled. Great rest! Will defo ask for this room again if I stay. Good recharge for a week and chilled time.

The hotel, staff and food were very good. The choice of breakfast and evening meal were excellent, staff were helpful and friendly and there was entertainment most evenings. I would not hesitate to visit again. I was however extremely disappointed that we had not been notified of the building works which our balcony looked straight onto, including 2 huge cranes. It looks like either a hotel or apartments are being built next door. Visitors who booked directly with the hotel were notified of the building work prior to check in. When we entered our deluxe room it was lovely, but a big disappointment when we saw the view. We should have been notified prior to check in.

My husband and I visit Benalmadena often, but have never stayed at this hotel. We are not traveling with children so we liked the "adults only" option. The room and hotel were very clean and the staff was very nice. Since we have never stayed at the marina, we asked the front desk a few basic questions about the ferry and cycle rentals. The front desk did not have any basic knowledge of anything around the marina. We asked more than one person basic questions and no one could answer our questions. (in fact, they didn't even know there was a ferry). They had a dancing performance one night that I thought was entertaining. I would recommend seeing it. The only real complaint I have about this location is our view. We paid extra to have sea view. Our room was facing the sea, but it was so low to the ground and just above the pool slightly that we could barely see the sea above the pool. We didn't feel there was any privacy or much of a view. They told us at the desk that we would have had to specifically ask when booked that we wanted a higher level. I guess we just assumed "sea view" meant "sea view". We would have done better getting partial view of sea and being higher up and saved the money. We did like the gym and breakfast was good, but I doubt we would spend the money to stay here again.

Clean and quiet but a bit sterile

Great location for walking to the marina and beach. Rooms (we had 2), though the bathrooms were a little dated, were kept beautifully clean and organized by housekeeping even when we didn’t leave til later in the day. Staff were mostly friendly, except one rather abrupt front desk receptionist, but Rafa, also at front desk, was FANTASTIC. As someone also in the hotel business is happily try to steal him for my small hotel if I could! We had a couple of minor issues but he went beyond the call to sort it out. The pools always had loungers available, no need to stress! Rooftop pool is very shallow but the water temperature very pleasant. Food at the pool bar was only ok. Smoothies didn’t seem to be fresh fruit. There was a bit of noise from roadworks but it wasn’t terrible though it did ruin the peace at the rooftop pool a couple of days. Overall a nice enough hotel if a little characterless.
