"Comfortable beds, great linens, all the extras you would expect in a better quality hotel. They even left eggs and bread for breakfast so we wouldn't need to run out on the first evening. "The hotel was lovely. We were greeted cheerfully and told the breakfast times and reminded not to forget our room key when going out as the room door once shut can only be opened with a key. Our room was very spacious, a really comfortable bed and a nice sized bathroom. There were also sufficient coat hangers in the wardrobe. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate were provided in the room. Breakfast provided a good choice of hot and cold food and the staff were lovely. The reception is manned from 8am to 8 pm. The only one issue is parking. If people park sensibly in the car park there is room for 7 cars. You can also park on the street and the staff asked for our car reg as there are cameras. The village is lovely and the castle well worth a visit. There is also a wonderful beach so great place for walking and dogs are very welcome in hotel rooms and restaurants and cafes."

"A lovely rural setting, 20 minute walk from Bamburgh, 5 minutes in the car. Plenty of parking, although the ‘10 steps to door’ wasn’t quite accurate. Yes for unloading & loading, but the parking area was a little further. The Hayloft was very well equipped and comfortable although the dining chairs had seen better days - cushions on the seats solved that. Lovely to have the hot tub available after a couple of boat trips in inclement weather. Unfortunately we didn’t get the opportunity to play table tennis or make use of the pods, but great facilities to have on site. It would have been helpful for the ‘resort’ name of Bamburgh First be somewhere on the paperwork - 2 Dukesfield Cottages is nowhere to be found!"

"The floors downstairs were extremely slippery and out dog was hurting herself walking on them. Luckily, we had 5 rigs and some dog blankets with us so she could as be able to move about. The downstairs is all open plan and so nowhere to put the dog (eg the kitchen) without her having access to the lunge and dining areas. The hob was dirty down one side and the control dials numbers were illegible, so it was difficult to set it at the required temperature. The only way to get hot water was to press a button in a cupboard in the dining area to boost which only went on for half an hour. This was mentioned in the literature but I have never been in any previous cottage where there was not immediate hot water and the boost would only be needed if you had used a huge amount of hot water. The door to the ensuite was so stuck my husband thought that the handle was going to come off when he opened it. North Easy Escapes did offer to come and fix it. The upstairs shower had a warning that the shower was slippery when wet but there was no shower mat so impossible to use safely. I put a hand towel down in the downstairs shower, so it was ok. Out daughter and family were meant to be joining us but we felt it was not safe for a 3- and 7-year-old and so we only stayed one night out of 5 booked – which made a very expensive one night break! "
