The limited time we had at the hotel was great. We were helping on a scout hike and it was nice to have somewhere comfortable to return to. The accommodation was lovely and we are thankful for the little extra touches like biscuits (which were lovely when stuck in the middle of nowhere waiting for missing scouts) and the slow gin (which unfortunately we did not get to participate in). We were also grateful for the patience this morning when we had to nip off unexpectedly, having to cancel our breakfast order when one of our scouts was taken suddenly ill. We will hopefully get to return again and actually enjoy properly next time .

Room clean ,friendly staff however we picked this hotel as we have stayed before and its dog friendly, however we feel the staff who are assisting with breakfast or indeed any meal shouldn't be touching the dogs as we witnessed someone doing this and not washing or using gel on their hands

The staff is very friendly and always helpful. The rooms are clean, warm and comfortable. However, the Hotel is located on a busy road and I founded very noisy, even during the night. Probably due to the fact that the hotel is located in a heritage building with original single glazing windows with hardly any noise reduction.

Pretty and stylish rooms with some nice touches on coffee and toiletries, however beds uncomfortable with lumpy mattress and with scratchy tired bed linen. Noise late into the night with a private party room next to my bedroom. If you want a good nights sleep this is not the place!

Staff were lovely and the pub itself is nice. However, my bedroom was right next to the car park and if I kept the shutters open, everyone could see in, so I kept them shut. It was also noisy - I could clearly hear guests in adjacent rooms and was glad I'd packed ear plugs. The pub's outdoor seating areas are extremely close to guest rooms, so I think light sleepers would have problems staying here in summer.

I received a warm welcome upon arrival but, unfortunately that’s where the positives end. My room, whilst suitably furnished looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The bathroom had long auburn hairs that obviously belonged to a previous guest. Dinner was extremely mediocre and it wasn’t until I finished that anyone asked if everything was ok. The deep fried breaded farmed sea bass fillet was overcooked and dreadful. The menu described it as a schnitzel when it bore absolutely no resemblance to the classic dish that’s cooked in clarified butter. Breakfast was good and served by charming staff. Upon departure, I handed my key to a member of staff who was sitting by the bar doing some admin. Absolutely no interest, no pleasantries and no question as to whether I enjoyed my stay. I would definitely not return.
