Perfect retreat
Lovely big room. Everything was thought of - in the conservatory area spare umbrella's blankets, maps, books, games, torches, walking sticks to borrow. We had a lovely stay.

Central village location, disappointing room
we were on the ground floor, good that we didn't have to climb stairs, bur our window looked out onto the splendid conservatory, so for privacy the panes had been obscured. This meant the room felt claustrophobic. Excellent en-suite bathroom. No food served in the hotel so had a short walk to the co-owned pub on the main street. Thankfully it didn't rain. No lake view from ground level.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We are aware that the room descriptions that Expedia show are not as extensive as we would like, but we have no way to change this. On another occasion if you have particular needs it would be good to call us and discuss which room(s) would be best for you. For example, some of our rooms have a view of Grasmere Lake and others do not.We have served breakfast at the pub since well before covid lockdown was ever thought of, and for sure it has sometimes rained during that time! But the majority of guests feel that the benefits to them of having much greater range of food options and service hours considerably outweigh the short walk to get to The Good Sport.We look forward to welcoming you here again sometime.Regards

Great choice for Grasmere with dogs. Especially as you don’t pay extra for their stay. We stayed in The Cottage which was ideal for our short break. Will definitely book again.

Ideal for couples
This is a lovely place to stay, a truly ideal location just a minutes walk to the village but with plenty of free parking. It’s a pretty building with character, but none of the creaky floorboards or questionable decor you often get with ‘character’ buildings. The bed was plenty comfy, the bedroom was uncluttered and the bathroom was spacious in the “Loft” room. It would have been truly ideal for us as a place to stay as a couple with no time pressures. We had a toddler with us, and upon booking we were immediately offered a cot bed for her in the room which felt very attentive. Having a toddler in that room wasn’t very practical as there was nowhere to put anything out of reach, the doors didn’t have a lock or latch (on the inside or the room door or bathroom) and there wasn’t much spare space in that particular room. The bathroom was attractively decorated and contained pleasant, sustainable toiletries but without a shower or shower attachment on the bath, getting ready took longer than normal. Hot water was instant and plentiful at any time day or night. Room heating was great. In short it’s ideal for couples, but wouldn’t comfortably fit more in.

We stayed in Penthouse which was fab! Beautiful views of the lake and had everything we needed. Was a little concerned as dog friendly that there may be a dog smell but needn't have worried the whole apartment was imaculate. I didnt realise we'd still have tea, coffee etc as we had our own kitchenette so was a lovely bonus. Banged my head a couple of times as lowered ceiling white so blends into the rest - no problem with the beams, so maybe just a different colour or an arrow would help. However it didn't detract from our wonderful stay. We will definitely be back!

Loved the accommodation for location and cleanliness. Beautiful grounds. Only disappointment is lack of availability of anywhere to eat due to covid and staff shortages. Overall though I would return.

We appreciate your kind words. Yes, Cumbria as a whole and Grasmere in particular is experiencing much larger than usual numbers of visitors, as a knock-on from other travel restrictions. As a response to this, we are changing our visitor information to strongly recommend that people book evening meals in advance, even when they would not normally do this.

The Cottage offered very spacious, clean and comfortable accomodation with its' own car parking space right outside the front door. Perfectly suited to our walking holiday and we would be happy to stay there again.

We stayed in 'Lake' room which was beautiful with great facilities. Breakfast was a short walk away at the Good Sport pub, staff were helpful & friendly and breakfast was great.

The room and facilities were great, we tried the breakfast in the cafe just down the road, linked to the hotel offering 10% discount to guests but found it not to our taste. We booked self catering to give us options, just a couple of minor points, we had only 1 large pan and the drawers next to the kitchenette unit sticks badly. One night, the whole room smelled of garlic from the cooking in the room below, this got to be really overpowering. The owners were lovely and friendly, some nice touches, chocolates and port if you wanted it. The toiletries were really good quality, comfy bed and overall we were really satisfied with our stay.

Little gem!
Wonderful location, wonderful rooms with fantastic bed and bedding. High quality fitments with plenty of cutlery etc and handy small kitchen. The views are amazing and bathroom was massive in Riverside. Our only tiny negative was the sqeeky floor boards but they were being replaced as we left. The breakfast was brilliant just a short walk down the lane and staff very accommodating. Could not fault any of our stay and will return

Lake view hotel penthouse suite
Fantastic in every way. We decided to stay self catering in the penthouse and it had everything we wanted. Careful you dont bump your head on those beams tho. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, highly recommended 10/10

Good location in the heart of Grasmere and friendly staff. The room was immaculately clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. We stayed on the ground floor, in the Garden twin bedroom. It was quite basic, although not uncomfortable. There was not much room to put anything, especially by the ensuite bathroom sink where a shelf would be useful. Unfortunately, being on the ground floor meant we could hear everyone going past our door and the people directly above us walking around was very noisy! The breakfast included was very tasty and we enjoyed the homemade muesli.

Friendly welcome. Comfortable room. Great view.
We enjoyed our first stay here (and our first stay in the Lake District). We don’t have dogs and failed to appreciate that everyone else has them up here! The hotel is cosy, clean and has great views. No food onsite (except for tea and coffee making and biscuits) but the breakfast served at the sister out a few metres up the road is very nice.

Great little B&B in Grasmere!
Great little B&B in Grasmere village right by the lake. Very hospitable and friendly service with super advice on local walks, restaurants, etc. B&B has been done up really nicely with modern bathrooms, everything you need in the rooms, and a decent breakfast to get you on your way in the morning!

Just a lovely stay completely. The room was stunning, the place is tucked away so it's quiet but also right in Grasmere... the food is superb (try the homemade granola!). They guys are so friendly and made me feel welcome.

Great guesthouse
Lakeview is an easy walk into town but feels like you are out in the country. It is an original stone house with renovated ensuite bathrooms while retaining original features. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. There is a great supply of different teas, biscuits, a chocolate each night and decent toiletries. Breakfast was simple but tasty. It was a wonderful stay.

Fantastic country house!
We stayed at Lake View Country House between 1.3.18 - 4.3.18. Due to the snow on the first day, we were the only guests on the first night! We were greeted by Beth who showed us around and showed us our room - the Loft. The room was great, really comfy bed with a beautiful bathroom. The next morning we met Mark and Julie who cooked us a full English breakfast, all locally sourced products which was fantastic! Mark and Julie made us feel extremely welcome, really chatty and friendly, helping us to get the best out of our stay in Grasmere. We definitely recommend this Country House, and will no doubt stay again, this time with a dog too! Thanks a lot for a fantastic stay!

We had a lovely & relaxing time at Lakeview Country House - the rooms were very comfortable and clean, the staff were very welcoming and helpful, and breakfast was great. It was in a great location for us, providing easy access to Grasmere village and the surrounding countryside.
