The Wallaces Hut

The three Wallace brothers Arthur, William and Stewart built the Wallaces Hut in 1889. It's the oldest standing mountain hut in the Bogong High Plains Alpine National Park and located on the road from Falls Creek to Omeo in the Australian Alps.

Popular places to visit

Fantastic, free camping... pretty little spot by the river. This is up in the high country of Victoria. Near Craig's Hut where the movie 'Man from Snowy River ' was filmed. Camping area is called Bindaree Flats, an old cattlemen's hut is opposite us...2 wheel drive access to this point on a rough road though...but ok to drive on. Grab a map and go!

Mount Stirling Alpine Resort

Hit the slopes at Mount Stirling Alpine Resort during your trip to Mount Buller. You can seek out the ski slopes while in the area.

If you make it to Mount Buller this season make sure you hike up to the Summit. I'm only an intermediate skier so I left my skies down the bottom and walked the final 100m from the Summit chair lift. You can ski blue and green runs all the way down from there. It's a lovely view, especially at sunset. :)
