We were really looking forward to driving through the Refuge, but the road was gravely and it was not welcoming. We just turned around and headed out.

Popular places to visit

Checking out the turtles while on vacation in the OBX. They have a really neat turtle rescue and rehab program at their facility.

I was here early in the morning. Since I didn't have a boat, and I sure can't walk on water, this was the best I could do at the time. Too much glare from the boardwalk side.
