「Perfect location for exploring Helvellyn. Staff were attentive and friendly. We took our dog with us and they looked after all of us. Pub had great atmosphere. Would stay here again.」

Kate the manager is exceptional, she had agency staff who were a credit to her but new one had been there 2 hours, a chef walked out and she was cooking as well as running and managing everything including a power cut. The hotel is tired we had a suite and the plugs didn’t work in the bath and shower, the bath was also chipped. If they spent the money and invested in the proper and staff it would be awesome, the garden needed mowing and was...

「Pretty remote so if you’re out driving, make sure you become familiar with the (fairly convenient) bus schedule, although it’s a half mile from the bus stop, or be prepared to pay a healthy taxi/Uber fare from Keswick. The grounds are lovely and rooms/common areas well-maintained. Breakfast doesn’t start until 0745, very inconvenient for an early start. Staff could be a little more helpful in pointing out bus schedule, local attractions, arranging cabs, etc. a nice experience overall.」

「Positives: Centrally located, parking and breakfast included, good range of options on both the breakfast and evening menu Negatives: I stayed during a period of warm weather and found the room incredibly hot. Unfortunately there was no air conditioning in the room so had to make do with a fan. It was slightly disappointing that at breakfast it was squash rather than juice being served, and there was no option to have a Latte or Capuccino-just regular filter coffee.」
