Old early 19th century 3 storied chateau with front courtyard( Maison particulare).Grand high-ceilinged rooms. Very quiet hotel in a quiet central location. Good air conditioning (early to mid September 70-80 degrees F ). Many restaurants nearby. Center of town is flat and walkable. No elevator. WiFi spotty and better on ground floor. Would definitely stay again.

The owner “upgraded” what we booked and charged us for the difference. This despite apologies for the “misunderstanding” with our fluent French tour guide (who was and is appalled and will never stay here again.). Moreover, our bikes were tampered with overnight. In short, a shady, unethical and bad place to stay. Steer clear if you value honesty and human decency.

If you are visiting Agen, France, Jacobins Castle Hotel in Agen, is your place to stay. At arrival we were greeted by the host, Stéphane and his amazing dog, Ulysses. The castle was charming, offers free parking. Our room was clean, welcoming and pink! We had a mini fridge, tv/cable and free Wi-Fi. For additional cost, we had a wonderful light breakfast served in the informal dinning room and the following morning, we enjoyed our breakfast on the outdoor terrace, listening to doves and breathing fresh air. If you want safety, dinner recommendations, a comfortable stay, and welcoming experience, you must stay at The Hotel des Jacobins.
