Sugar Loaf Mountain above the Arctic Circle, near Kangerlussuaq! I had a great tour that day featuring ice caps and the autumnal countryside! This was taken from the bus on the way back to town. Anyone going to Greenland will probably fly into Kangerlussuaq, the main international airport hub (even if only about 500 people live there!).. If you do I highly recommend the Point 660 Tour (with Albatros Arctic Circle). There are many other cool tours to choose from, too! I took this photo on August 30th (where it was already very much autumn!).

At the Greenland Ice Sheet, around 50 km/31 mi north of the Arctic Circle! Hard to believe it was almost 1 year ago. West Greenland is absolutely beautiful and had a memorable few days there! After my trip to the Faroe Islands (and 1 day in Copenhagen) I visited Greenland. Which was a real dream come true :). I actually changed my plans only a couple weeks before I left for my trip. I originally was suppose to only go to the Faroes and Copenhagen. But decided to go to Greenland when I saw the cheaper flights ;). I took this photo near Kangerlussuaq, which is Greenland's main air transport hub. I spent 1 night there before heading to Nuuk (the capital of Greenland). Had a great day trip that day, too! In fact it may have been my favorite day of the whole trip! The landscape was diverse, with colorful hills and mountains and valleys but also white & blue ice! I did return to Kangerlussuaq at the end of my trip and had another excursion, too. Shorter and closer to the airport but breathtaking, as well. And despite a lot of people being seen in this photo this is a quite isolated place, obviously. There is a road nearby, built by either wartime Americans or post-war Germans. It's I think the longest road in all of Greenland. But make no mistake - it is quite a rural and lightly traveled road! Not many people have ventured on it. It was surreal to be so away from civilization. And to be so far north in the world :).
