Wolf Creek Ski Area Tours

Set within the breathtaking scenery of a national forest is a ski resort famous for its deep powder skiing, family-friendly activities and après-ski entertainment.

Escape the crowds of Colorado’s popular ski resorts to enjoy a warm welcome at the Wolf Creek Ski Area. This mountain resort is a paradise for snow sports enthusiasts and receives some of Colorado’s heaviest snowfall. Choose from classic alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. Wolf Creek Ski Area sits amid the picturesque Rio Grande National Forest, which is part of the world-renowned Rocky Mountains.

Prepare to carve through a skiable terrain of 1,600 acres (650 hectares) and 77 runs, the longest of which is a thrilling 2 miles (3 kilometers) long. Split almost evenly between beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert, the runs are suitable for all skiing abilities. Use the series of nine chairlifts, which provide quick and scenic transportation from the mountain base to the summit.

First-time skiers can participate in group or individual lessons with skilled instructors. Take advantage of the specially designed children’s ski school that’s perfect for kids to make their first attempts at skiing. Delight in their progress at the end of the day.

While alpine skiing and snowboarding are popular, find other ways of enjoying the mountain. Explore 6 miles (10 kilometers) of groomed trails suitable for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Speed across snow-covered meadows on a guided snowmobile tour.

During the daytime, enjoy a hearty meal at one of the varied restaurants located in the base area and on the mountaintop. Sip craft beers or mulled wine at a cozy lodge bar. Bring a picnic to eat on the sunlit terrace of the Base Camp.

Located in south-central Colorado, Wolf Creek Ski Area is a 20-minute drive from South Fork and a 50-minute drive from Pagosa Springs. Use the shuttle buses operating between the resort and these two towns or the free parking lot for those arriving by car.

Wolf Creek Ski Area opens from November to April and is a daytime resort only. Accommodation is available at the base area and in nearby South Fork and Pagosa Springs. Visit the resort’s official website for more information.

Wolf Creek is about a 30 min drive from the motel. Great skiing and easy drive up the mountain in good conditions. There are signs at the base of the mountain that inform you of the road's conditions before you go up.

They have the nicest and most sincere people working at the ski area. Whether it's crowded or not, we have enjoyed every visit. Every person we have encountered that work there have been very helpful and actually take the time to make sure your questions are answered fully. They even had some tips that make your visit even more special.

Not as refined as Crested Butte, Vale etc. but the prices for lift tickets, food and lodging are a lot better for families. Same snow.

This is a nice quaint resort. Beautiful views! Keep an eye out for local appreciation day because day tickets are only $50. Trail markings are really bad and you never really know what trail you're on. The only relatively well marked trails are the black diamonds. The resort is clean and has very fun runs. There are not many people there on weekdays which is awesome and it feels like you have the whole place to yourself. Side note treasure lift has a weird dismount due to very slow speed.

If you are renting ski equipment, rent it in town the day before or early in the morning that you ski!!!!
