Grids was so close to anything I wanted: transportation, a convenience store, even a shrine festival on one night!
I booked a long-term stay (~8 nights) in a shared room. On that floor, there are enough beds for 35 guests, and one bathroom was closed half-way through my stay due to a malfunction. Yet, I only had to wait for a shower once. My impression is that Grids does a great job of booking guests across their space expressly so that this happens. This was my first time staying at a hostel, and I was very pleased with my choice.
I've since discovered that many hostels (especially in other countries) offer lockers for guests' luggage. Interested customers should know that Grids does not, but I don't get the sense that that is common in Japanese hostels anyway. Additionally, I never felt like my belongings were in danger.
The only mildly inconvenient thing was that their check-in website didn't recognise my booking itinerary (I think because the booking was done via Expedia and not via their own website?), but that was remedied relatively quickly.
Finally, I want to shout out Kou-san and Ryo-san for all the help they gave me while I stayed! Especially Kou-san. I had the dumbest questions, and he had all the right answers.
