Kiwi Express is a stylish budget hotel with a clean enough room (just don't look under the bed!) that covered the basics. In our room, 301, there was a lot of natural light although the bathroom was small. Also, the way the shower was designed, the water leaked onto the main part of the bathroom floor, although it would dry pretty quickly. The aircon was very strong and blew onto the bed. One of the beds was softer than is standard in Asia (which depending on your preferences, may be a good thing). The gap at the bottom of the door allowed noise from the hallway into the room. WiFi was unsecured and sometimes slow.
The greatest strength of the hotel is the staff, who were helpful and responsive. The hotel was centrally located, but in a quieter lane.
The buffet breakfast offered more Taiwanese choices than Western ones, with steamed rice, rice porridge and a handful of condiments to go with it, soup, two kinds of stir-fried vegetables, a meat dish, and scrambled eggs. There were sweet buns, white toast, and a limited salad bar for the Western options.
