Not a great experience and our score would have been even less were it not for the nice lady at reception who checked us in when we arrived and was there on the second night, also. She tried to look after us
Firstly, when we entered our room (room 3), it was stiflingly hot and within a couple of minutes we couldn't stand it. I went to turn it down but the heater control had previously broken off so it was impossible, other than switching it off completely at the wall. I went to reception and the nice lady offered us an alternative room.
En-route to the new room, which was nice and by the way, there was, let's say, an 'unusual substance' smell in the corridor. The main concern, though, was the tv which kept dropping out every few seconds. Again I went to reception to be told that this had been a problem in all of the rooms for the last few weeks!! If this is the case, surely people should be informed on the website and through Hotels.com if an advertised facility is not available... something like "please note that there is currently an issue with TV reception at this hotel". That way customers have the choice to book elsewhere, if this is an issue for them, as it was for us.
We are currently looking to buy a property in the area so thought we could use the hotel as our base regularly while we find somewhere suitable, but the concern of how things will be next time mean we will not return.
