Don your swimsuit, apply your sunscreen and discover why people call this charming beach on Manasota Key the Gem of the Suncoast.

Come to Englewood Beach for a Florida vacation without the supercharged atmosphere of places like Orlando or Miami. Take a break from the fast-paced world on the mainland and relax in this enchanting community on Manasota Key.

Cross from the mainland to Manasota Key and instantly feel the pace of life slow down. This scenic barrier island stretches for 11 miles (18 kilometers) along Florida’s southwestern coast. Englewood Beach makes up the southern half of the island, part of Charlotte County, while Manasota Beach makes up the northern half, part of Sarasota County.

You won’t find any high-rise buildings, racing highways, luxurious resorts or even traffic lights at Englewood Beach. Immerse yourself in the relaxing atmosphere of shaded bungalows and tropical beaches.

Spread your towel, open your umbrella and enjoy the Florida sunshine from Englewood Beach’s pristine shoreline. Swim in the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The beach is famously well maintained and its white sand seems to glisten in the sun. You will soon understand why it is nicknamed the “Gem of the Suncoast.”

Cook a meal on a barbecue grill and eat at one of the many picnic tables or get a snack from a concession stand along the boardwalk. Play a game of beachside volleyball or Frisbee.

Don’t confine your fun to the beach area. Rent a Jet Ski for a few hours or try parasailing. Look for a trophy fish on a chartered fishing trip. Check out the stunning Lemon Bay, located between the island and the mainland. Take a boat tour and see manatees, dolphins and other animals that live in the cove.

Englewood Beach has plenty of parking spots, but arrive early to ensure you get one. Park your car for the day for a nominal fee.

Although it feels far removed from civilization, Englewood Beach is very accessible. Englewood, on the mainland just across the bridge, has many shops, restaurants and accommodations options. Drive north to Sarasota or south to Fort Myers in about an hour. Reach Tampa to the north and Naples to the south in less than 2 hours.
