Old fashioned and very atmospheric. The staff were accommodating and friendly. Chinese decor in the rooms. Located at n a quiet Hutong alley between two main streets that are full of dining options. Recommended!
My friend and I stayed at this hotel for about 5 days back in October. We were drawn by the old school Chinese villa theming of the hotel. It absolutely delivers on that experience while still providing modern comforts like modern bathrooms and clean rooms. The rooms are half-outdoor but we found the insulation, bedsheets, and AC/heat unit more than adequate at maintaining preferred room temps. Rooms are small but exactly as described in the listing description, so no surprises there. There is also outdoor seating at the patio and rooftops that were not often used by guests and very private and scenic. Breakfast had a mix of both eastern & northern Chinese/Beijing-specific options and western dishes.
The staff at this place is fantastic!!! Every worker was so kind and helpful. One of the receptionists, Alice, helped us book visits to the Forbidden Palace and Tiananmen when our phones failed to connect to WeChat. A lifesaver!
If I ever visit Beijing again I will stay here again for sure. I have already recommended this place to my family and other friends visiting the city. Absolutely lovely hotel experience.
My group was here for just one night in December when we got stuck in Beijing during the snow. We booked the room last minute on Expedia and showed up late at night. The reception was so friendly and helped us get settled in. Gave us water bottles too. The rooms are nicely decorated, comfortable, and I appreciated the tea set in the room as well. The next day, the receptionist helped us book a cab to the train station. The courtyard is nicely decorated as well with tables and chairs. I bet it would be enjoyable during the summer. I wish we had time to stay here longer to check out the other amenities like the restaurant.
It was a little hard for us to find at first. We had to walk down the alley for a couple minutes at night. We came during a snowstorm so the Didi driver was not comfortable driving through the narrow alley (understandable). I would recommend looking at photos before arriving so you know what the building entrance looks like.
An amazing hotel in a quiet Hutong alley in Beijing, easily accessible by metro and to the airport. Excellent service with friendly staff, making us feel very welcome throughout. Able to help with queries booking tours and tickets. Excellent breakfast. A lovely hotel and one we can not wait to return to - would definitely recommend the honeymoon room!
