The property itself is beautiful. Great location - quiet but off the Champs Elysee. The room was nice and large. Unfortunately our stay was marred by a couple of bad experiences:
- Our biggest concern was the rudeness of the French lady on reception. We were talking to her colleague to arrange a late check out (12 noon vs 11) and we’re told this should be fine because the room was not needed. The other woman then rudely interrupted her to inform us that would cost 20 euros. Quite ridiculous if the room is not being used and given check out in many hotels is noon. The way she spoke to us and to her colleague was just terrible. This is such a shame as we found everyone else there to be wonderful. We were then told 11.30 would be fine but 12pm 20 euros. We opted for 11.30 and received an email confirming. However at 11am the next morning we started receiving calls asking us why we hadn’t checked out. All very disorganised!
- The online check in process was also ridiculous. I had to call up twice after spending 30mins stuck in a loop of redirected pages only to be told that it wasn’t required (contrary to their email).
-The other disappointing thing was the room cleaning- bins were emptied every day but they left the dirty coffee cups from day 1 the entire time. No washing up facilities in the room so we were not able to use the coffee machine for the rest of our stay, despite paying £300/ night
We loved Sonder in Venice but won’t choose them again now
