Construction on Lake Street made it nearly impossible to get to the hotel. (Take 31st to Emerson and turn North/toward Lake Street even though it says it's one way and your GPS is telling you something else, trust me! There is a pay lot across the street from the hotel there, $18/day max.)
Once inside, we were informed that our room with two beds wasn't clean but that they would offer us a room with a king bed "at no extra charge". 🙃 I was traveling with my teenage son, so this was less than ideal but not impossible.
The room itself was quite small, with no fridge, no dresser, no closet. The bed is similar to a futon, lower to the floor and very firm. We had fun with the guitar!
Some time after we settled in, a staff member came to offer us an additional but not adjacent room across the hall but I was uncomfortable sending a minor to his own room. I'm not sure why they never offered to just clean the room we reserved?
The staff we met were very nice and obviously trying hard but they seemed inexperienced and underresourced. The whole experience felt much more like a stay in a youth hostel or a campus dormitory than a hotel. I wouldn't have minded this vibe if the pricing aligned. Next time we visit Mpls, we will probably choose another hotel with parking, breakfast, and a comfier bed for the same price.
