This property is a bit older, but it's in a perfect location for accessing shopping, restaurants, & really beautiful beaches. The Dana Point Preserve is just a short drive away.
We went on Memorial Day weekend. Rates were low. As a result, there were a few unsavory guests. We had the suite on the ground floor by the pool. We heard some foul language coming from some kids and their parents. There was one guy who couldn't hold his liquor and lost the plot around 10PM. He had to be talked down by a woman who was urging him to come inside.
This isn't necessarily the hotel's fault. It would be great if hotels could vet their guests for decorum and public decency, but I understand this isn't possible. Just because you're on a budget doesn't mean you have to be ignorant and baseless. Most of the guests were really nice people though. There were a lot of families.
My husband and I didn't let the drunk at the pool get us down. We cooked dinner in the suite's kitchen and watched the sunset from the patio.
The suite was pretty sweet. Overall, very clean and comfortable. If I were Gordon Ramsay, I'd say that it was a little rough around the edges with some chipped paint, slight scuff marks on the walls, and some questionable black substance in the bathtub. Also, it had a fireplace that didn't work. But, we're not precious. It was nice.
Breakfast was susbstantial. The staff were very nice too. It's not the Ritz, but, overall, excellent value for money (minus the dolts at the pool).
