I don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience at The Vagabond Inn in Costa Mesa was terrible. I live locally in Huntington Beach and booked a night to get away from a noisy neighbor. In the morning, I found a large roach on the counter. I reported it, and while the staff apologized, they told me to contact Expedia for a refund. Expedia was helpful and was able to call the hotel to request a discount. I was shocked when Expedia told me the hotel was only willing to offer me a pathetic 10% refund! After being told by the desk earlier that Id be able to get a refund, this 10% offer felt very inadequate.
Attempts to speak with a manager went nowhere. I was told the manager wouldn’t be in until 3pm, then was unavailable, and I never received the promised call back.
The place is very old—at least 45 years—and it seems like they have an ongoing pest problem they’re not willing to invest in fixing. That’s a scary thought when you’re trying to sleep.
Avoid this place unless you’re okay with bugs, poor customer service, and outdated facilities.
